Apples. Can't get a better Hallowe'en treat than an apple.

Dan, your chocolate bar list is spot on.

I don't think that you get these, in the States, but they are most delicious:

And they come in minis for Hallowe'en.

I'm not a coffee drinker but some coffee flavored snacks are pretty good. I'll need to obtain a few of those.

No order...there are other candies I like better, but the best ones you have a remote chance of getting on Halloween are:

Smarties
Kit Kat
Twix
Small Reese's peanut butter cups (the big ones and the pumpkin ones have too high a peanut butter to chocolate ratio)
Butterfinger

I can't stand actual coffee. I've drank 2 cups in my entire life.
I'm not often a big fan of mocha desserts, either, but the Coffee Crisp defies explanation and reason. It's the wafers, I'm sure.

Back when I was a kid:

1. Homemade popcorn balls. Must be softball-sized or bigger.

In today's reality:

2. Reese's peanut butter cup...but NOT the "mini" ones...they seem to be made out of wax! The ones shaped like pumpkins (pictured above) may actually be BETTER than the standard ones due to a higher peanut butter content

3. Zotz

4. Baby Ruth

5. Nestle's Crunch

Almond Joy/Mounds are truly terrible. Would rather get an apple.

When green is all there is to be, it could make you wonder why. But why wonder? I'm green, and it'll do fine: it's beautiful, and I think it's what I want to be.

I always buy candy bars because I think that's what kids like. If I selfishly bought what I really wanted as leftovers, it would be lollipops: YumEarth and DumDums.

1. Peanut Butter Snickers (frozen)
2. Triple Chocolate Kit Kat (frozen)
3. Baby Ruth (frozen)
4. Butterfinger (frozen)

For the 5th, I always buy Milky Way, because that's my wife's favorite.

Chocolate or tablet candy ?

Either way, I'd probably include both in my top five!

The tablets, all the way! As an American, I've never had the chocolate smarties.

I don't eat candy anymore, so I guess I default to a fresh apple with a razor in it.

My kids always prefer lollipops and other hard candy (ring pops are their favorite) over chocolate bars. Fine by me (if not my waist line) since I prefer chocolate and they gave most of it to me.

But this will be the first Halloween my twins won't trick-or-treat. The transition to empty nest begins.

5. Salt Licorice.

Friend of mine brought out some Dutch salted licorice the other week. I like licorice, thought "salted, how bad could it be?"

Jesus.

Like a fiery volcano of salt just took a dump on my tongue. It was truly horrible.

For those of you that like the pumpkins due to the superior PB to chocolate ratio, these are available year-round:

I lived for 7 years about 300 yards from the Necco factory in Cambridge MA. I used to hate the smell on the days they were making the wafers. It was quite a relief when the building was sold and converted.
