That's a Palm Pilot on the left, and a pink iPod mini on the right. Yes, I've been doing BGTG that long!

I've just scheduled the first meetup for what will hopefully become a regular group. Part of the large English-speaking Boardgamers of Paris meetup group, we're going to try a Monday night group that focuses on lighter/shorter games. These should be especially good for couples--my casual-gamer wife has agreed to attend, for example!

We'll play classic titles like Ticket To Ride, Bohnanza, or Carcassonne, as well as new titles that are similarly light and short. We start at 7pm on 24 October at Cafe Meisia 2.0 in the 10th Arr. You don't have to sign up to Meetup.com to attend, and it's ok if you only speak a little English. I only speak a little French, and I'm trying to learn more! I can think of no better way to learn than over a game with new friends.

Café Meisia 2.0 is a nice boardgaming place by République with tons of games. The rate consists in spending a minimum of 3€ per hour in food and drinks. You can play as many games as you want from the amazing selection of games the café has. It is not necessary to bring any games because the café has so many.

This idea is so cool! Unfortunately, my wife 'n I live 45 min from Republique. Do you know of any similar MeetUps south of the Seine?

Please do, Jamie!

Our first meeting went well. We had seven gamers, started playing downstairs, and later moved upstairs when those crowds cleared out. We played Bohnanza, Carcassonne, Get The Goods, Bang Dice, and Codenames Pictures.

Thanks. To be honest, we're still figuring out of Meisia is the best place for us, longterm. My wife & I come from Vincennes, and I work in the south (Saint-Maur-des-Fossés and Lemeil-Brévannes). Meisia is convenient for a lot of gamers in Paris, but my priority is on finding couples and a nice place with good lighting, not too loud.

Loved gaming night, Mark! Olivier and I will definitely join you and Candy on your next one wherever it is. I'm also on the lookout for some new gaming places in the city, too.

Best,
Melissa
