They're all very good for solo play so you can't really go wrong with any of them. Personally, if you haven't played any before I would start at the beginning with Lost Cities and then add on the other two games.

There are 3 games actually: Lost Cities, Rise of Rome and Origins.
I would say that the trials in Origins add a fair challenge for solo player.

But I would recommend you get LC or RoR (my preference goes to RoR).

Just echoing what the others have said plus...

Lost Cities solo play is a nice straight forward introduction to the game - quick and fun, tough too.

Rise of Rome solo play is a small step up and all the better for the Titan AIs - a great and interesting challenge but easy to administrate.

Origins - smaller, lower entry price I think but with great AI and a much quicker match. So much variety in the solo play with three small arenas, three cities and is it 50 Trials?


I often think Origins is one of the best starting points for Hoplo but working chronologically is also very very good.

And then there's the add ons...... Hoplomachus: Army of One being just one example.
