1 x The Dragon & Flagon
2 x Ghost Blitz
2 x Codenames
1 x The Castles of Burgundy

This week I realized my wife made the next step: she bought Ghost Blitz and the Betrayal Expansion, she took to her first game of Castles of Burgundy like a duck to water (and i realized she is really good at point salad games), and complained that we played Codenames for too long for a room of more experienced gamers (we both still really like the game).

2 x trusty old Port Royal. I've played this so many times. It works well at two, even better at three and almost as fast, and I'm not a massive fan of push your luck but find it so good in this game!

1 x Cottage Garden. This works for me as basically Patchwork for three players, which is something I have wanted for a while. I think Patchwork is a better game, but that's a very high bar I feel and I am plenty happy enough to potter around in the garden with this one.

2 x Clash of Cultures. Wow, did I enjoy this one. My first plays and I'm puzzled why the Dice Tower crew didn't enjoy it more. As a big fan of the Civ computer game, this game scratches quite a few of those itches for me. Love the tech tree. Love the randomness of the barbarians. The exploration works for me too. So glad my wife bought this. She picked up a French edition of the Civilizations expansion too, which should scratch the different civs itch better.

Plenty of choices to make it seems, it can get a little AP prone early on as you figure out the tech tree better. One thing that was a bit against the game for my wife when mulling over whether to buy, was the randomness of the dice. But she finds it fine, and in a way I think that can add an interesting element to the game.

Do I really want to wage war with these troops? What if I get a sucky roll, won't that leave me exposed? For me it looks like it kind of adds to your considerations, that you could get stuffed!

This game stands a serious chance of making it into my top 10 based on these first two plays and with the expansion still to come.

I love that it has miniatures. They add to the fun for me.

How did you like Mechs v Minions? Is it a long set-up? Is it difficult to learn/teach? I received mine a few days back and am anxious to try it!

Saw this after I posted. modest

Setup isn't bad. There are just (obviously) a TON of minis to pull out during the game.

Rules are incredibly simple and easy to teach/learn.

Should be a good family/gateway game for people that like programming or just stomping on a bunch of bad guys.
