Hi,

I have 2 questions related to this great game:

- Is it correct that the only way you can lose bottles is by taking a card that you are not allowed to take?

- Is it correct/legal that by taking a card you are not allowed to take, you can get rid of your identity and avoid this way that someone else wins as he is about to identify you in his next turn? Certainly if you have no bottles yet, this could be a good strategy?

Hi,

1. You may never take a card that you are not allowed to take (e.g. the Vampire Baby may never take a garlic clue card).

2. See answer to question 1

You never lose any bottles (points) in this game. Once you have them, they are secured.

But thumbs up for coming up with this very interesting strategy!

The rules say that you can lose up to 3 bottles if you took the card you are not allowed to take, no?

The only way you can lose bottles is if you make a mistake by taking a forbidden clue card for your baby from the display. So if you want to use this strategy you have to disguise it as a mistake because you can't voluntarily take that forbidden clue card.

Seems like you are a really mean baby

You aren't allowed to take the card that shows the item depicted on your secret identity card. This is a basic rule in the game.

Off course it is possible somebody takes this card by mistake. Should this be the case you will indeed loose bottles as a penalty. This rule was added so you have a possibility to continue the game if somebody makes a mistake with a penalty for the person who made the mistake. This will mainly happen if you play with young children or distracted people

Taking a card you aren't allowed to take on purpuse is considered cheating. If you do this you deliberately break the rules to manipulate the game.

So in general you will never loose bottles in the game.

Hi Erik,
I'm Ally Steven Severi, the designer of Baby Clues.

Great question!

Players are not allowed to select their forbidden clue on purpose.

During play testing however, some players made this mistake by accident.
A simple penalty was introduced to put the game quickly back on track (where all the fun is).

For a more creative and cunning experience...
I suggest to give Baby Clues with the mini expansion
The Skill Cards a go.

It allows you to do pretty neat tricks during your or your opponents turn.

The catch: Your Skill Card is connected to your Secret Identity.
If you use it, you will reveal a part of your Secret Identity.

Thank you for your question and have fun!

From Ally
