I was thinking of posting this as a file but I thought I would post it here first.

Land Combat Modifiers
Every Round Modifiers
+ / - Force Ratio
+ / - Leader Modifiers
+ / - Class of Lead Unit (attacker must identify his Lead Unit before the defender does)
-1 if US attacks British Regulars on clear space in 1812 and 1813 (does not apply if the British are defending in a fort or if the British player is attacking)

1st Round Only Modifiers
-1 The attack is Amphibious

Terrain: Only one of the following terrain modifiers applies 1st round only
–1 if the attack is in a forested space
–1 if the attack is across a (river) Major Invasion Route
-2 if attacking Montreal across a Major Invasion Route
–2 if Regular or Militia units attack a forested space containing only Indian units
+1 if Indians (exclusively) attack Regular or Militia units in a forested space.

Battle Cards
Attacker must decide whether to play a Battle card before the defender
Cards only apply to the current battle round unless specified in the card text


Naval Combat Modifiers
Naval combat can only occur in a Lake Control Box and the moving player is considered the attacker.
There is no retreat before battle in naval combat

+ / - Force Ratio (Side with greater # of vessels +1/ if twice as many +2)
+ / - Class of Lead Unit
+ / - Naval Leader Modifiers
+1 / -1 Frigate Bonus: one side has frigates present and the other side does not, a +1 (attacker) or –1 (defender)
+1 / -1 Small Ships Penalty: If one side’s fleet consists of only schooners and sloops, and the other side has at least one brig, corvette, frigate or ship of the line –1 attacking/ +1 if defending
Battle Card: Play of a Battle card can also modify the combat result by a +1 or a –1 as the case may be.

Forts

Defender adds the fort’s value (number indicated in the lower left) to the defending side’s combat value

Increase the “quality” of defending units by using the fort’s rating (A, B, or C class) instead of the unit(s)

When attacking a fort, the terrain in the space is ignored, but Major Invasion Routes and Amphibious Landing modifiers are still are in effect for the first round of combat.

If the defender has only reduced units in a fort space the class of the lead unit chosen cannot be higher than the fort’s class.
