I've been out of the board game scene for ~2 years, so looking for some recommendations for a 2-player friendly board game that thrives on finding and taking advantage of combos that chain up.

Examples of board games with this dynamic that we own and love:
- Castles of Burgundy: prime example of how you can combo different actions all together and one of our favorite board games
- 5 Tribes: another great example of how clever play can lead you to tee up multiple actions in one turn
- Guildhall: great example with good ability interactions

This combo-ness is really all about connecting up lots and lots of actions together. So many times your turn is just doing one thing, but sometimes, you can carefully link up a bunch of actions so it feels like you're taking 2-5x more turns than you should have.

Not looking as much for games with tech trees or accumulating "permanent" advantages.

Requirements:
- Must be able to play 2 plays well Nice if it can play more.
- ~1 hour or less
- Not super fiddly please, not too much set up unless super super worth it
- Streamlined rules / game play

Thank you!!

If chaining combos is your thing, you're looking for Glory to Rome. It's a game about trying to break the game with the most outrageous combo first.

If you want a more Euro-y flavor, we enjoy the combos in Grand Austria Hotel

Nightfall

It is a card game / deck builder which uses combos and chaining as one of the core mechanics. Plays extremely well with two, is fun, cheap, less than one hour per match and nice theme / illustrations. One disadvantage is that it is out of print.

I've not seen a deckbuilder yet that is more about comboing / chaining than this game.
