Hey guys,

Together with two friends and two artist we're preparing for our Kickstarter campaign with a new boardgame called "The Way Out".

The game is a Secret role / survival / social interaction Boardgame, sharing similar game-mechanics with already existing games of great popularity.

Short description:

Players have to survive a set number of rounds while trying to accomplish the goal that the given Scenario dictates. Main player action is voting on the next action and involves deep social interaction with the other players.


A game turn:

A game turn consists of discussion and decision making. Each player has to decide what they want to do in the next hour and then secretly give their decision boards to the Leader who then shuffles them. The Leader then places the boards one after another in a straight line on the table and each player may claim any of the boards as they own. As there are negative actions in the game, the bad-guys will of course also claim
other people's actions.

The group has to move from location to location, fight monsters, face difficult events, and try to survive while they're aiming to complete the main objective. As I stated above, there will be good-guys and bad-guys, and each player's affinity is kept secret until the end of the game. Both parties will have different goals. Secrecy and betrayal plays a big role in the game.

Game time - depends, but with 5 players it took us 120 minutes.
Age - 14+

Current state:

The current state of the game is that we have a Rule-Book and a Helper Guide (a.k.a. Player aid). We also have the cards in an Excel and some visual designs, but no art yet.

The plan is to further playtest the game for a few months. Art will start work in December and we're aiming for an April or May Kickstarter campaign.

Playtesters:

If you would like to help us, we can send you all the files that are required, but you will need to make the prototype yourself. We only used Mansions of Madness Second edition for the elements, and also a lot of colored notes and whatnot.
