Hi,
I'm looking for a game with beautiful artwork, that works fine as a 2-player game. It can be only for 2, or for 2-?, if only it scales well.

What I understood by "beautiful"? Anything made by Menzel is by no means beautiful (for me), unfortunately most of these games do not really scale for 2. I also love the look of "Lewis and Clark" (I have it, and it scales well, I know), "In the name of Odin" (does not scale at all ), "Pillars of the Earth" (better with more), "Blue Moon Legends", but also some "different" artworks like "Troyes" are welcome.

We prefer board games to card games.
Any ideas?

Lost Cities? A card game for two people. Decent enough game but I must say, the artwork on the cards is nice.

My wife and I love 7 Wonders Duel. It's beautiful and is both a card and board game. She's not into board games but she will play this one. Splendor is another one.

What about Jambo? A two player game illustrated by Menzel.

I like the art in Agility.

Dr. Finn makes lots of two player games that have interesting art that are also good games.

Maybe look at something like Dreamwell, or Lotus.

Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia is a stunning game, with bits that are very satisfying to handle. It plays quite well with two.

Patchwork is a great 2-player game but would be a stretch for "beautiful" in the artwork department.

Bruxelles 1893? Or Trickerion: Legends of Illusion, although i don't know how well that one plays with 2.

Or maybe one of the games of Vital Lacerda (Kanban: Automotive Revolution, The Gallerist)?

Dragonheart. Art by Menzel, and just as pretty as Pillars of the Earth.

Other particularly pretty games that are either two player only or play well with two players: Odin's Ravens, Thunder and Lightning, Fungi, Traders of Osaka, Blue Moon, Helionox, Tides of Time and Tides of Madness, and Bottom of the Ninth.

Pillars of the Earth Builder's Duel has art by Menzel, but I don't think it's particularly pretty.
