According to the rules (5,5,3, last sentence), firing on mounted cavalry gives a -1. Ok with that. But why is there a -2 when it is charging?
Not only it is very hard on cavalry, but I fail to see why a charging cavalry is a better target than a moving one. Or a stationnaire one.
Worse, firing at charging cavalry means a -1 (cavalry) -1 (moving target) -2 charging cavalry = -4. That's horrendous, no?

I spent 100 Geek Gold and all I got was this lousy overtext message!

Is that -2 on a player aid? I see nothing in the rules under 5.5.3 (p.7) that gives firing on charging cavalry a -2 modifier.

Note the new rules in the box have "red" text to indicate the upgraded information. Do you have those rules?

Yes, only the cavalry target is on the rules. The others are on the play aid.

Hi Marc

No,

- Target on a bridge/Cavalry........ -1 to the dice roll
more
- Moving target/foot target in wood hex (ART only)...-1 to the dice rol

Total -2

- Cavalry charging target ........ -2 to the dice rol

Total -2

you dont add the 3 modifiers

Best regards

Well, then there is a contradiction. A charging cavalry is both a moving target and a cavalry, thus -2, and a charging cavalry -2. As those modifiers are cumulative, it should be -4.
Otherwise, you should delete charging cavalry on the the play aid just to avoid confusion, as it is already covered as a moving target and a cavalry.

Well Marc, that's your interpretation, the rule is correct, there isn't any contradiction.

The rule is designed that way; the cavalry size is a -1, a moving target a -1.
A cavalry charging is both cases in one (-1 + -1)= -2 because the size and is moving.

Nicolas, this is not about interpretation, just reading the play aid and applying the modifiers.

As modifiers are cumulative, charging cavalry should be -4 if reading the play aid and applying it rigorously. I mean, if I didn't ask here, that's what I would suppose.

But I agree with your answer (I've no reason to say otherwise), it's -2.

And thanks for your patience.
