Have been playing this 2P lately and have noticed the Counterfeiter card is underpowered in the 2P game, where you will only gain 1M ISK by playing it. Because of this, I would never play this card by itself and only use it for the colour. Yes, there are job cards that allow you to steal from multiple opponents that have reduced power in a 2P game as well, but they also come with the added benefit of drawing specialists or adding to your coloured set.

I'm trying to think of a variant that would not shake the balance of the game too much. Removing these cards from the game completely would overvalue the blue cards.

I'm thinking of this possibility: Steal 1M ISK from your opponent. Optionally, also steal 2M ISK from the Coffers by teaming this specialist up with another blue specialist when playing. This team cannot be affected by the Wheelman specialist.
This would provide a way for it to be quite powerful but at a small sacrifice.

This card has more potential than the Con Man in 3 & 4 player games but is less powerful than it in a 2p game.

I'd like to hear people's thoughts.

This is something that I have been working on. Try this.

In a 2 player game, always treat the coffers as another player as well. This would allow the Counterfeiter to steal 1 from an opponent and one from the coffers. I also would assume the coffers always has 1 team in play (for the dirty cop).

This may improve your experience. Please let me know how this goes.

I was also trying to make it different to the Con Man but I guess it can't be helped too much in order to implement a solution for the game as a whole. This definitely sounds like a good overall solution. I'll give this a go and let you know if I find anything particularly unbalanced with it.
