It was a whole day of gaming, this Friday the 13th. Those of us who are currently unemployed, work from home and/or have frequent days off can really enjoy days of gaming like this.
After a number of other games and some BBQ for dinner, three of us sat down to play Block Mania.
Steve took on the Sly Stallone Block, xombe took on the Millhouse Nixon Block, and I took on the Buddy Holly Block.
The first few turns started off like any other game. xombe's first blockers were Juves with a firebomb, who ran into my block and set fire there. My own first blockers were Juves, who quickly put out the fire before it could spread too far. Steve began with a low CP roll, and chronically suffered from low rolls, never going past the 6-point mark until near the end of the game.
xombe brought out a Mob, who ran to the Armoury...and picked up a Missile Defence Laser! Some of my Crocks surfaced, and picked up a Vibro-Drill! Steve did alright with a City Def. squad also packing a Missile Defence Laser! It was a good turn for the Heavy Weapons.
xombe brought out another blocker with a Demo Charge. With some reinforcements, I brought out a few more blockers, including a Mob of my own, and another set of Juves...wearing a batsuit. Wow. Steve played a Kleggs card, giving him a Klegg with a Missile Launcher! Uh oh!
By now our blockers were running around and doing some damage. xombe ran into Steve's block and scrawled some of his walls with some spray paint. I brought my Vibro-Drill into xombe's Power House and began the chain of collapsing...which quickly became known as COLLAPSATION! I took out something like 6 sections, with another dozen structurally damaged. Oh, and no more elevators, pedways, etc.
I was happy. Until both Steve AND xombe began using their missiles and anti-missile lasers against my block. xombe took over the Kleggs, so he had two, both with Heavy Weapons, firing at my Block. Within two turns I lost a good 15 sectors! 15!!! Talk about COLLAPSATION!!! at its best. I also lost two active blockers in the ordeal.
But what came next surprised us all.
xombe and I made our Block Collapse rolls at the end of the turn. And, as you can see above, our rolls were terrible. Mine was WELL under what I needed to survive. Thus ended the existence of both of our blocks...it was utter COLLAPSATION!!! for the Millhouse Nixon and Buddy Holly blocks.
Crash. Bang. Boom.
The worst part of it all was that the only damage either of us had done to Steve's block was xombe's spray painting, which was merely a moral victory.
The end-game points were as follows:
Justin: -200 xombe: -198 Steve: -2 (or 0?)
This was my second game of Block Mania. It is total old-school, with none of the fairness you find in Euros today. It is pure Ameritrash, dice-fest loveliness.
Some will call it a bad game.
I call it COLLAPSATION!!!

Don't feel bad, I had a game only last three turns with my block collapsing into nothingness because of a really bad roll. After the block went down, I had a Mob and some Citi-Def to mount a strike on my friend's block.
