I always remember that scene from Robert Altman's The Player where they say the key to coming up with a movie idea is to take two unconnected movies and put them together: "it's like A League of their Own meets The Mighty Ducks." Well, Mastermind + Minesweeper = Black Box.

The board is an 8x8 grid and one player uses the wipe-off board to mark the location of four spheres. The other player gets to deduce the location of the spheres by picking a coordinate on the perimeter of the box and telling the first player. Then a path is traced out using some basic rules (the "laser" won't pass through a sphere but is reflected depending on how it hits) and the ending coordinate of the "laser" is given out, Battleship-style.

As a nice extra feature, there's a cool solitaire aspect to Black Box. There are some pre-made scenarios in the back of the rulebook that one person can use if they can't find an opponent. It's a good game and can be found quite easily on ebay or Goodwill. Worth getting for deduction fans.
