I'm currently making a budget for the youth room at a church. I have had terrible experiences with youth group pool tables, so I'm looking at alternatives that are fun, affordable, and aren't X-Boxes.
So my question is: would Zopp stand up to rough public use?

I don't think it would stand up to unsupervised public use. Firstly, players might lose the pieces- the discs, the Zopp sticks, the powder, and the little scoring tracks.
I've also noticed a few scuffs on the surface from a few too-enthusiastic kicks. I haven't had my copy for more than a few months, and it hasn't seen regular use, so I can't speak to that.
The board is plenty sturdy, so that's not the concern. The game surface itself might not survive rowdy hooligans.
PitchCar is cheaper, at least as much fun, and damage to one section does not ruin the whole game.

Thanks. I thought that would be the case, but it was worth checking out. The game certainly looks fun enough.
I may wait until I get a chance to play pitchcar for myself--it sounds like a fun alternative.

I think Pitchcar would be a better alternative in the situation you describe purely because it can be played by up to 10 players, mkaing it better for larger groups.
