I have just submitted the link to the complete rules of Heart of Oak. It is from a pay-per-download website and the link is still being approved by boardgamegeek. I'm not sure it is okay for me to put it here, so just be patient and wait for it to show up

They charge you US$3.5 for each download. I have downloaded it and can testify to its completeness. You need to download Acrobat reader 6.0 and register your computer on the Adobe website (free of charge) before you can open the file. Up to six computers may be registered to use the file. However, be aware that if you reinstall your OS, the file will not recognize your computer and another 'slot' off your quota would have to be used. So you probably want to print the file out before your Windows' next inevitable fatal crash...

Technicalities aside, the rules are a work of immaculate research. The information itself could be regarded as a rich source for warfare in the age of sail. I have read quite a few works on that subject, including Naval Institute Press' Line of Battle, but none has given me the up-on-the-line perspective provided in these rules.

!Caution!

If you are downloading the rules, make sure you register your PC on the Adobe website first. This is also known is 'activating your DRM', no, that's Digital Rights Manager.

I made a mistake and downloaded the file before activating my DRM. I can still open the file with the downloading PC but not any other PCs. If you activate your DRM first, you are permitted to access the file with as many as 6 PCs. The other PCs may activate their DRM afterwards, I'm talking about the PC you use to download the file.

I emailed RPGdrivethru and they allowed me redo the download promptly. Good service.

I've been all over Adobe and can't quite figure out what you are talking about with the DRM.
