My son and I put our machines against one another this afternoon. (We took a small break from playing StarCraft) The original game appeals to us. It is quick, fun to play, and doesn't require deep strategy ( We have other games for that). The expansion does things that I feel improve the original game. First it increases the amount of cards in the game, which does two things... It increases the game time a little bit while opens up different combinations with the added cards. Secondly, the sabotage cards allow you to directly affect your opponents machine. This does make the game for me. Although in my first play I didn't get many across the table.
The game started out poorly for me. I did not draw too many contraption cards while Mark seemed to get a few on the table. The contraption cards I did get up depleted my own parts pile which put me the downward spiral that eventually ended with me getting pummeled, but I am getting ahead of myself.
Mark had some killer contraptions. He was able to draw cards from MY parts pile and put them immediately into his machine.. and of course he put a doubler on that.. I did have the bigger machine near the end of the game though... (small consolation)..
He had 44 cards in his parts pile at the end of the game .. he played well .. especially for an 8 year old.
It is a good expansion.. if you own the game.. you won't be disappointed with it. If you don't have the game, it is a fun game to play.. I perfer 1v1 games.. it is more strategic... 3 or 4 player games have the potential of players to gang up on others.

Nice report... I'm planning to pick up the expansion.
Plus, well done to that obviously bright 8 year old that whooped daddy!
