I made the 10 days in the usa game, rather than buying it.
I was wondering if it would be wrong to post it in the downloadable files.
It is an exact replica of the original.
I figured I would ask before I posted the files.

Um 'exact replica?' You really need to ask?

Alan's too nice to say it, but I would encourage you to buy the game if you enjoy it enough to create your own. Yes, game designers like it when their creations are appreciated, but they also like to be paid for their work. Since you have your own, pass the game on to a family member or office event. Share the love!

While it was nice of you to ask, I strongly urge you to purchase the game instead of making homemade copies. Designers, publishers and retailers all continue to exist because we PURCHASE games. Making a homemade copy is, in my opinion, unethical.

Well... I guess that's the thing. The game sucks. I wouldn't want anyone to pay $20 for anything that isn't worth it especially this series. Did I make the game to keep and play for free? No. I treated it as a try it before you buy it. I'm glad I did. I don't like it.

We certainly differ on our opinion of the game. I find it very enjoyable, and a wonderful game for family, church and social gatherings. It has been incredibly popular with just about everyone I've played it with, and many have even purchased their own copies.

No, it really isn't a deep game targeted for hardcore gamers. However, in the proper environment, the game shines.

I own 3 of the games in this series and they get frequent play in our gaming group. Their purchase has been well worth the money spent on them.

The game doesn't suck. You just don't like it. That is a big difference.

Also, since you were playing a DYI copy, there is the chance that you were not playing the actual game, that there were some inadvertent differences that crept in. Before you pronounce judgment on the game and seek to save others from its horribleness, maybe you should make sure that you have enough knowledge to even make an informed opinion.

I am also wondering how you could produce an exact copy for an amount less than you could buy it for that would be worth the effort it would take. What did you have to work off of? You'd need a map with the states indicated somehow as belonging to their proper groups and then a fairly large number of differentiated tiles that would require either color or symbols to match the states. Maybe you didn't do that properly and didn't get the differentiations correct? That would certainly change the game for the worse.

I created a template in excel that produced 9 cards per page. Then I found a government website that had free pdf downloads of each state. I imported those pdf files into photoshop. Downloaded the map off of the image section. I used the capture tool to match the colors to the map and filled each state with the appropriate color. I downloaded the rules which had pictures of the plane and car that I used. I filled the plane with the correct color. In the rules it stated how many of each card would be required.
I printed the cards on eight pages 110 lb card stock and found a card back on google images so the cards aren't see through. I cut them out by hand. The card stock cost $11.00 for 250 sheets and the ink was in my printer. I therefor spent about $3 on the game to try it out. Of course plus my time, which is the whole point of doing anything yourself to save money (painting, mechanics, etc).
I agree most with the comment that the game isn't for me... well and my group of about 15 friends.
If you like the game, I'm glad you found it. As for me, I'll pass on the purchase and throw away my home made copy, not for the ethics part of it, for the fact that I don't like it.

I'm on my 2nd copy of the game, when I first bought it I didn't like it and I got rid of it, but I found another copy for cheap and decided to try it again years later. I'm thankful I did, because I really enjoy it every now and then.

The basic rule is that if someone can completely replicate the game with the file, no, it is not allowed.

It's fine if you took the effort to make the game for yourself, but I'm sure the publisher wouldn't appreciate your allowing everyone to easily make copies for themselves.

I wouldn't sweat it too much; this is from the same guy who rated Agricola and Tigris and Euphrates a 1. Not what you'd call a "hardcore gamer" nor someone's opinion I'd put a lot of weight upon.

He just didn't "like" the game, after spending quite a few moves there, recreating the game.
