The local PBS station contacted me again to be on TV. The show that inspired me to start the Board Games with Scott series is off the air, but the host is now doing a cooking show. He contacted me and asked me to be on the show, so I offered up a segment on “After Dinner Games”.

I demonstrated:
- Felix, the Cat in the Sack
- Portrayal, and
- Rattlesnake.

Since this one is short (7 minutes over 2 segments), I put it up on YouTube:

You can also grab it over at the Internet Archive at http://www.archive.org/download/bgws_jan08_foodforthought/bg...

By the way, when you play Felix, before you start bidding, you get to see the first cat in the sack; I didn’t show that correctly.
Also, the table was a little slanted, so Rattlesnake was harder than it should have been.
But, when it’s time-pressed recorded-live TV, things happen!

P.S. The food was cold!

If you like Portrayal, I did an episode on it at

I really like Rattlesnake, but a BGWS episode on it would be about 2 minutes long. :)

So, how did it taste? ;)

Rattlesnake looks to be a good kids game, but I don't think it is challenging enough for adults. The magnets are really cool, though!

It was cold and bland.. I mean... "Mmmmmmmmmm". (if you watch, you can see that I put off taking a bite for a long time...)

Give it a try, first - I've played it with nothing but adults and it's a hit every time. There are 12 of those magnets, and I think it would be pretty impressive to get them all on there.

If you play with 4, I suggest playing in two teams of 2 who share a pool of eggs.

Great Job !!!

On Friday, we did a more broad sweep of gaming on the GOOD DAY COLUMBUS show on our local FOX channel this past Friday. We had over 18 minutes of air time over the couse of two hours ... Our production levels are not up to Scott's standards ... We had 55+ gamers at 7am in the morning playing all sorts of games.

You can see the intro here ...

All of the segments are up here ...

And Scott also did a Hit and Run review of Rattlesnake on the latest episode of On Board Games.

That was great. Rattlesnake looks like a great game! I know my kids would love it, but I can see this being a hit with some of our non geek adult friends as well.

The male host always makes me laugh when I watch your segments, Scott. He's certainly effective at keeping the show moving. "...And then you have some fun with that. Now tell us about this one."

Is that a different show than the segments you've posted earlier? The male host looks familiar, but I don't think it was a food show before...

The original show was cancelled. The Host still works for the station, and now it's a 30-minute food show, but it airs in the same time slot.

Yup, I'm playing with the "I've got tenure so it's time to have some fun with the beard" stage.

Scott, you've really got this down pat--the way you demo the games make them look fun and interesting and very accessible for non-gamers.

I bought Rattlesnake as a Christmas gift for my daughter, but it didn't get here in time. So now it's sitting in my gift closet waiting for the next holiday. It's been killing me and now you've just made it worse!!

Yeah, it's a 30-minute show, and I had 7 minutes of it to talk about games, so they wanted to make sure and get everything in in 7 minutes.
