Q1. If one owns the 8 card expansion and adds those cards to the Action card mix, should one remove an additional 8 cards on top of the removals listed in 2.1.1, 2.1.2 and 2.1.3 to ensure the correct number of player turns? It doesn’t mention anything about that in the rules supplement included with the expansion pack.

Q2. Should one always remove the Team Play cards if Team Play is not being used?

Our assumed answers:

A1. Yes, always remove enough cards to assure fourteen turns per player after initial card deal, i.e. if you have all 100 cards in the deck, remove 20 cards in a four player game, 40 cards in a three player game, and 60 cards in a two player game. If you elect not to include the Team Play cards when not playing a Team Play game, remove 18, 38 and 58 cards, respectively.

A2. No, do not remove the Team Play cards. We just played with them as if the Action portion of the card is useless and the card can only be used for Intercept!. NOTE: I know that the official rules explanation states for both Team Play cards: "This card is used only during 4-player team games." I don't see why they can't just be included and used as described above.

A1: There really aren’t a set number of required turns. The number of cards listed in rules 2.1.1, 2.1.2 and 2.1.3 are merely suggestions. As it states in rule 2.1.4, the players can decide to remove more or less cards at the start of a round to shorten or lengthen play.

A2: The intent was to not use those cards other than for Team play, buy as you stated, you can keep them in the Action Deck as Intercept! only cards. During tournament play, such at this past WBC 2007, the Expansion Pack cards were used in the final game, but the two Team Cards were not employed. It’s really up to you.
