Hi all

I submitted an AAR of my first playthrough of the intro scenario, and I was going to do the same of my run through of The Empire Strikes back but I forgot to take notes and so much happened as I was having a blast and the time was flying by rapidly , the amount of times I rolled a zero for a troop quality check to roll a 9 to hit made me laugh ( for the uninitiated in the GTS a zero is always apass and a 9 is always a fail)

Ive tried to play other wargames solitaire and it always left me feeling like I was a dual personality , this ont he other hand seems to be tailor made for solitaire due to the chit pull mechanic and the fast that I made a plan of attack for both sides and tried to carry them out to the best of the rolls and available command points.

Obviously face to face is the way to go, but I was wondering how many of the players here are solitaire/Vassal only and do they find that TDC works well or am I being deluded due to the *honeymoon* phase I'm in with it?

Considering that I will probably only play this via Vassal or small scenario FTF, it bodes well that it plays well in the solo/Vassal mode of play. Drop me a line if interested in a game - definitely would need to start with intro scenario for me.

There are many wargames out there that allow you to "make a plan" and "execute it" for each side. The Gamers games with their "orders" are probably the best. But there are many.

The intro scenarios are basically puzzles to solve for one side, they are amazingly interesting as solo scenarios.

The system is simple, and that adds to the enjoyment of the game. However, solving the puzzles presented during play is not trivial. It's a thinker, and I'm looking forward to playing the big CG via a semi-weekly gathering. I just know I'll be walking around in a haze as I try and figure out exactly how to execute my way out of some mess.

Are you going to pre-order WED?

I was preorder 240 or so :)

gah! I had so much fun playing I forgot an important rule, the german rout one :(

saying the Germans lost 24 steps ( 6 to the airstrikes on the final turn! alone) thats a lot of chances for the rout roll to show up as a 0-2 , oh well now I have an excuse to replay it.....

I agree, TDC plays well solo and that's the reason why I bought it, of course the fact that there is VASSAL mod was also very important to me. I already have Where Eagles Dare on pre-order and I'm not surprised how quickly it made 450.
