Dark Tides is an insert addition to the aCe (or all Centra entertainment) expansion for Champions of the Galaxy. This insert contains 6 new cards, 5 of them being wrestlers and 1 of them being a show.

Story:
Once again creator/writer for the aCe expansion, Kris Osk, does a great job. He keeps the story of the game interesting enough that you want to keep playing to see how things and storylines come out in your fed. This set seems to start taking the story more towards the sci-fi sets of aCe 2119-2121 with the talk of the Demon Godsend possibly getting his demonic powers back, and a great evil heading for Centra as reported by Shepard.

This new turn in the story has added some new characters and taken away a few. Not returning with this set is PainMaster, Shepard and Peacemaker. Shepard was heading off to go fight the evil heading towards Centra. I felt like he was one of the more interesting characters, but will not notice his absence much with finding it hard to book him in a straight wrestling fed.

Peacemaker was a new character in the last set to come out for aCe and his stay was short with an assassination attempt on his life. In the storyline it was said that PainMaster ordered the attempt and that is why PainMaster is absent in this set because he is facing life in prison while it is unsure if Peacemaker will survive.

The only thing I would have liked to see in the story is a little more progress in the Other's storyline with only one of them being able to stay in reality and the other one fading away. I would have also maybe liked to see more development in Scud and Witchdoctor, but they are still good and have enough room to develop them yourself in your own fed.

New Game Cards:
This set has added some great characters to the aCe roster. The artwork is great for the cards as well.

Jakyll & Krypt - Tag Team - The Fallen
Paganax has brought back in a new Jakyll and Krypt to fight agains Godsend and his demons. The new team The Fallen have so far seemed to be a hard to defeat force and it will be interesting to see how well they do later.

Mack Caliber
One of Hustlers friends from the Blue Steel Gang. He is teaming up with Hustler who split with the Regulators. I love his move where he puts his taped glove and dips in broken glass and uses it as a weapon. Its a good card to go with Hustler and makes the Blue Steel Gang vs. Regulators vs. the House of Pain an interesting match up.

Zeta Grey
A newcomer with no current associations. With no associations he may seem the most 'boring' of the new wrestlers but seems to have a decent talent, and leaves room for further development. I have a feeling that he may become a big name in the future.

Neuromancer
My second favorite after the Fallen. Neuromancer has taken lead of the Syndicate faction with Mann leaving to make his own group. I personally think he has the best story of all the cards with it being rumored that he was/is involved with Nicodemus from the Centra War (or known as the aCe 2119-2121 sets). He is not a big physical threat, but is a great luchadore and seems like he may prove to be a problem for many.

The New Schoolyard talk show card
The last card is a talk show card that puts New Kincade as the host. Nes has started feuding with Nemean and has started his own show to try and beat The Nemean Show, hosted by Nemean. This card is good in setting up and continuing storylines, and makes the feud between Nemean and Nes Kincade more interesting with them feuding for more ratings and popularity, as well as fighting in the ring.

Card Mechanics:
I only give it a 3 out of 5 because the cards do not have the same special mechanics that made the old ones unique. It does not mean that these are worse, just not as unique as the aCe 2119-2121 sets. Still its fun and easy to play as always!

Fun/Creativity/Overall:
Once again this is a great set that just adds to the already great aCe expansion. It adds more interesting characters and leaves alot of room for player creativity. While I wish it would have developed a few characters a little more it did add/develop the story more by shifting alliances and creating more factions all with their own specific agenda. This set makes me want to keep playing and looking forward to the next insert addition. It may have lost a few cool characters, but the new ones that came in more than make up for it. Once again the aCe puts out a great set that keeps you hooked, and anticipating the next release!
