Although I've been playing wargames since the 60's Gettysburg is new to me. A friend came across a 1958 version and we want to play but are finding the rules somewhat incomplete.

(1) When moving, a unit can move its movement allowance in any direction including diagonally?

(2) How do you move 1/2 a square?

(3) How many units can fit in a square?

(4) Must all units in a square face in the same direction?

(5) What's a good way to handle the hidden units to keep track of them?

The game box happened to contain 2 6-inch rulers that obviously did not come with the game. Would these have been used for movement purposes? Line of sight purposes?

The game "feels" like a miniatures game but not quite.

Thanks,
Michael
