I have three sons and two of them are just about old enough (ages 3 and 5) to want to play games with me. We tried out this variant for little children using my Razzia deck:
They are too young to call an auction or to properly evaluate a set of loot cards, so we played that each person on his turn could take a card from the top of the deck and place it face up on the table. If he felt lucky, he could take another and another until either he drew a policeman or decided to “bank” his cards. If he drew a policeman, the policeman and all the other cards he drew this turn were discarded. Cards banked previously are safe. The check tiles were left in the box and not used.
After every 7 policemen appeared we scored according to normal rules. Cards with an X were discarded after scoring. It worked well and I can imagine as they get a little older they will be able to better judge when is a good time to bank their cards based on what other cards they have and what cards they need to outscore their opponents.
