Welcome to Brentont’s family board game review
If you have never read one of my reviews before here is how it works, if you have just skip to the next paragraph.
1 components- quality of the components and their function in game play
2 box size / components- the size of the box compared to what it holds is important to me for shelf space and is rated here.
3 rule book- how easy is the rule book to under stand (I learn most games directly from the books)
4 game play- fun, flat, satisfying or somewhere in between
5 adaptability- how easy is it to adapt to younger players and adaptations made if any.
6 components / game play = price- is it worth the money for what you get
Each one being worth 0 to 16.66 points. These numbers will be added up and divided by ten for its final score. (matching the bbg 1 to 10 system)
I do not cover how the game is played. Only the points listed above. Please forgive my typos, spelling and grammar errors. I am a steel worker not an English teacher.

Giro Galoppo
By Jurgan PK Grunau
Distributed by Rio Grande, 2 to 5 players, ages 6 and up, 20 to 30 minutes.

Giro Galoppo is a horse race game driven by cards. The catches, you can only move your horse the value of the card you play and only able to play each card once. Also there is only one lane. There is a chance that you can have your horse set back if landed on by another horse.

1 Components- The board is of good stock and the wooden pieces are great, obstacles, different colored horses and jockeys. The cards are a little thin and do get handled a lot. I would recommend sleeving them. 15.00

2 Box Size / Components- The box size to components is pretty good. There isn’t a lot of wasted space in the box. The insert is ok and holds the pieces well. 14.80

3 Rule Book- The rule book was easy to read and strait forward. There isn’t a lot to the game and the rules are well written and strait to the point. 14.00

4 Game Play- The game play is interesting. There is enough decisions to be made to keep me interested yet not too many that my 6 year old can’t handle the game. The rules are written to help the younger players keep up and move ahead. It forces my kids to realize that there will be consequences for the decisions they have made earlier in the game. When they are down to two cards and can not play either of them because it lands them on an obstacle. The kids have a lot of fun and I enjoy playing it with them. It’s not my kids first choice but sees plenty of time on our table. 12.50

5 Adaptability- I have not had to make any changes to the game to help my youngest play. Just a little help now and then . The only suggestion I would make is card holders for little hands. 15.00

6 Components / Game Play = Price- The game retails at 44.95 but can be found for 35.99. This is a relatively high price point yet the components are good quality. If you were only going to have one game of this type in your collection then I would rate it high. If you already have games like this in you collection then 8.00

Review Score- 7.93

The game looks like a perfect 9 reading your review.

You said that it gets plenty of table time. So 8 on 16.66 seems very low since you liked the quality of the components as well.

So don't you factor the price to hard?
BTW most online retailers sell it for below 30 dollars.

How would you rate a crokinoleboard using that scale?

If i had found it for under 30 dollars i would have rated it much higher. The quality of the components is very nice but I dont think the amount of pieces compared to 35 dollar price point deserves more than an 8 of 16.66. One small board, 5 horses, 5 jockeys, 4 obstacles and 30 thin cards. I have gotten more for less in games.

as for crokinole i have never played or looked up the price of a board. but from what ive seen and heard a crokinole board can also be a show piece. the giro galoppo box is on a shelf in my laundry room. i also over paid for a cribbage board. but it looks nice on my table.
