Are there any good free online TCGs? Where you can legitimately play without buying boosters?
A plus if it supports >2 player modes!

I actually just discovered Elements today:
http://www.elementsthegame.com/

It is free and has the ability to play two players. You earn gold by playing others and the computer which allows you to buy cards to customize your deck. Then every time you defeat the computer you get the opportunity to get a "rare" card from the deck you just played against.

It plays "a little" like magic, except there is no blocking with your creatures. They just deal the damage. (as well as other difference with how mana is done)

This is the best one I've found so far, but still does not completely satisfy.

But ya, kinda put me in the mood for some free online CCGs as well.

That URL goes to a parked site. Maybe you were thinking of Saga (http://www.playsaga.com/)?

I think he meant www.battleforge.com though that seems to be down for me.
This works though http://forums.battleforge.com/forum/

I've been playing Far Wilds for a week now and have yet to spend any $$ there. I'm not really a big fan of CCG type games in general, but Far Wilds has been amusing me

There's a "generic card game server" that I've played a few games of Magic on. Right now it supports:

MTG, Pokemon, Netrunner, Cthulu, LoTR, and Metw

The client was not exactly user friendly nor polished, but the online documentation is good people I played with were helpful in learning the client and all that.

Check out Hero Mages at www.heromages.com. This was a big hit at GenCon this year. Totally free to play- no random boosters or gimicks that require you to pay if you want to win games. It also supports up to 4 players FFA, 2v2, 1v1.

I'v been playing Pox Nora for more than a year now and it's a really nice TCG game...
It has a free portion... but when you buy packs... your cards actually level up and become stronger, gain new abilities... and such..
The game is a turn based grid battlefield where your units wage war...

Check it out.. it's really worth it.

As awesome as Spectromancer is, unfortunately it is neither free nor online. (depending on your definition of online is, Spectromancer has network multiplayer, but still needs to be downloaded)

I'm enjoying Warstorm at the moment.

http://www.warstorm.com/

Its a like a CCG with an automated game which gets around the problem of players quitting mid game. Its free to play with an option to spend a few $'s. $5 - $18 should be all you need to spend to get enough cards to give you enough playing options and to be competative.

It is online, yes you need to download it, but the game is completely designed to be multiplayer, the community is very active.

And it is kinda free, but you can only use 1 class, the previous edition you had the Cleric class wich was one of the best ones, and now you have illusion wich is always very good, and you can play normally, and use the arena section as well, just not other classes

edit: warstorm looks neat

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Estiah. It's quite possibly the best free online RPG CCG. Best way to describe it is a Dominion CCG RPG. I highly recommend checking it out. The only problem, is you are very limited with the amount of actions you can take every day, so most people make 3-4 accounts to make up for it.

Maybe you want to check out www.fantasy-cards.net. It is an independent online tcg.

You can play it in your browser (no download)
2-Player and Single Player Modes (no multiplayer > 2 sorry)
100% free (it's an hobbyist effort)
Realtime!
about 120 cool cards and growing

-- sorry for the shameless advertisement devil I'm one of developers. But since its not commercial and hey - its a great game - it might be of interest for you.

Legend of the 5 Rings can be played through a couple of Java or web based engines. Gempukku is the most popular. I've never tried it but a lot of L5R players swear by it.
