My girlfriend got this a few weeks ago - we've played it a bunch. I like it a lot more than the Unwelcome Guests, I think it adds more strategy to the game.
I have to agree. Unwelcome Guests was ok but Unfortunate Expeditions seems to be more fun and doesn't break the rules as much as Unwelcome Guests with the persistent effects.
We include the Unwelcome Guests cards in our game but skip any effects that are specific to the expansion.
