Okay. You and Jared agree. Scotch it is. I think I'll smoke a pipe with it. Mmm.

Ooh, a pipe. That sounds pretty good. Too bad my hookah takes 2 hours to smoke or I'd get that out too.

Love the smokiness of Laphroaig. Definitely not an everyday Scotch.

Well, jeez, she got you TWO.
That sounds just like my wife, but she does have to listen to my happy snoring.

Well, the Duvel is nearly gone and my selection of good beer is quite light. I've got Bell's Nut Brown Ale, Lakefront's IPA, or a Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest.
There's also some good bourbon and scotch sitting in my cabinet. Hmm...

The #1 thing I miss about Michigan is Bell's. I don't have a #2.

Two-hearted is a staple while we are watching Vikings games. I also love their Cherry Stout, but $15/6-pack is rough to drop unless it's a special occasion.

Well, I decided that a Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest would be the way to go, but that lasted all of 5 minutes.
I've now got three shots of Elijah Craig 12-year bourbon sitting in my glass. That is some tasty stuff. I don't think I'll be able to type after I'm done with that.

BJ, why are you drinking heavily this evening? Should we be worried?

Pussy. How do you know what's good if you don't try it? Crappy, light, rice beer would be my last resort, even when having dinner with Mormons.

Well, the Elijah Craig was excellent. Since I'm drinking alone, I'm afraid it's time for bed.

I'm quite skeptical about what I will find here. I like IPAs and pale ales. I don't like ambers and reds and I don't like most porters. If they had Guinness I would have been drinking that, or a decent brown ale. I will check their taps tomorrow and maybe get some samples. Bud/Coors/Miller light taste good the same way ice water tastes good. I stand by that.

My night of mid-week drinking fell through. I did get the bottling done, but now I'm off to bed, sober. Probably sleep well and wake up feeling fine. This sucks.

Tonight I'll be bottling my latest batch of dark gingered ale (that's dark ale brewed with ginger, not the other stuff). A friend is supposed to bring something fancy to drink, but I've got backup homebrew just in case. I love ginger beers. Yet another beer idea that sounds "yuk" but turns out to be "yum."
If you like ginger, Domaine de Canton is a surprisingly good ginger liqueur.

I've learned that there is really great beer pretty much everywhere you go as long as you're willing to try it. (Unfortunately, there's also really crappy beer pretty much everywhere.) One of my favorite things about travelling is trying the local beers.

The beer at the Westin sucks. Shiner, ML, BL, Sam Adams, Fat Tire and something called just 4. The 4 beer isn't bad, sort of a European style lager with a lot of citrus. I had seven tall BL's today. Last call was at 11:30 so I'm switching to Crown. BTW, Dar is nowhere to be found despite his telling me he'd call me when he got in.
