Everyone who's played more than one edition of Fluxx knows that the "generic" cards change between editions. These cards can easily be switched to to other versions. But which ones? To help illustrate this I made lists of Generic cards in Martian Fluxx and Monty Python Fluxx.
Martian: new rule: Draw 2, 3, 4, 5 Play 2, 3, 4, all hand limit 1, 2, 3, 4 double agenda no hand bonus
action: begin the invasion *thematically martian, but rules-wise normal. Discard & draw draw 2 and use 'em draw 3, play 2 of them everybody gets 1 exchange keepers let's do that again! let's simplify mass hysteria *mentions humans and abduction chamber in reminder text, but not the effect text rules reset steal something take another turn taxation! trade hands trash a new rule trash something use what you take
monty python: goal: the cheese shop
new rule: -Draw 2, 3, 4, 5 -Play 2, 3, 4, all -hand limit 2, 3, 4 "-" is something also in martian. did martian introduce handlimit 1? Keeper limit 3 -double agenda -no hand bonus always look on the bright side of life *similar to "we come in peace", but not specific to humans get on with it! one, two, five!
action: *most of them are very generic -draw 2 and use 'em -draw 3, play 2 of them -exchange keepers -let's do that again! -rules reset -trade hands creeper sweeper I'm not dead yet! jackpot! move a creeper my brain hurts! my hovercraft is full of eels %steal a keeper %reimplemented as steal something this game has become too silly %trash a keeper %reimplemented as trash something

Hand Limit 1 was introduced in Fluxx 1.0.

Hmm... Apparently it's not in the monty python version. Oh well, minor issue I suppose.

I just looked at my MPF deck, and Hand Limit 1 is in there. It's also on this list:

Sounds like you're missing a card.

I would suggest that first you double-check that it's actually missing and you didn't just overlook it. Then, if you recently purchased your deck, you should return it to where you got it. If it's not recently purchased, try going here:

That might only work if you live in the U.S.
Good luck.

Yeah, I'll look, but I've played several times and don't remember ever playing it.

Anyways, what do you think about the idea of transferring certain cards?

Other than an occasional game where I shuffle multiple decks together, I'm usually content to play each individual game by itself. I have a few Blanxx in my Zombie Fluxx deck, and a bunch of promos, expansions, and Blanxx in my regular Fluxx (3.0) deck, but that's about it.
The idea is sound, and Looney Labs actually recommends doing it that way rather than shuffling whole decks together, but it's just never appealed to me. If I want to play Monty Python Fluxx, I don't want to have to go digging cards out of my Zombie Fluxx deck to do so. And vice versa. But I wouldn't object if someone else did that, and it might be fun.

I went back and looked and I DID have the card. maybe I just forgot it existed...

So um, any specific card that might be an issue?

Not specific cards, but maybe a few general observations: - (Start with the obvious) Make sure you add Keepers to go with the Goals you add. - Make sure that if you add Creepers, you also have a way to deal with them. I added a couple of promo Creepers to my Fluxx 3.0 deck, and ended up with situations where nobody could win in a two player game or only one player at a time could win in a three player game. That made the games drag out to unfun durations. It took some Blanxx and a custom Meta Rule to mitigate. - Look for potential conflicts, like "One, Two, Five!" in Monty Python Fluxx and "Inflation" in original Fluxx. Since "One, Two, Five!" was also a promo, there's an official ruling that only one of those two cards can be in play at a time, just like "Draw 2" and "Draw 3". - With Martian Fluxx particularly, I could see where it would be important to decide before you start what counts as a Human. Is King Arthur from Monty Python Fluxx a Human? What about a Friend from Zombie Fluxx? Since you're only moving a few cards, you could probably avoid that by not moving those cards.

What did inflation do?
I was more thinking of things that weren't connected to a particular theme.

"Let's see, I have King Arthur and the Ray Gun...."
But, for not tied to any particular theme, how about "Get on With It" from Monty Python Fluxx? The title is a reference to Monty Python, but Andy liked the concept so much he ported the card over to the new edition of Stoner Fluxx.

I agree The themed cards are great. But not easily transferrable. That's what I was wondering about actually, whether certain cards will have issues being used with certain others. Such as "My Hovercraft is full of eels", weird.....
For Inflation/one, two, five, you could just rule that if one is played while the other is in play, the previous one goes away.
Oh and "Get on with it!" is awesome. Part of the reason for making this list actually.

Yes, that is Andy's official ruling in the Fluxx FAQ.

Hehe... That obvious huh?
Hmm.. Intersting question, What happens if someone plays "My Hovercraft is full of Eels" while inflation is out?

Inflation only affects numerals and the number selection is specified in words, as are the resulting options. So everything is the same until you get to the point of deciding what to do.
one: Draw 2 cards & play it [them]. two: Draw 3 cards. three: Trash a Keeper. four: Trash a New Rule. five: Draw 4 cards. six: There is no rule #7. seven: Steal a Keeper.
Six is kind of fun, because the rule number changes. It doesn't have any effect, though, because rule seven is only eliminated when rule six is selected. When seven is selected, there is still a rule seven. You don't care that there's not a rule seven when six is selected because you didn't choose seven.

I keep thinking there should be something else...
3-headed giant isn't affected in a meaningful way. It does apparently have it's name changed to 5-headed Giant(or 4-headed with Inflation), but the goals that require it are changed to match.

Maybe I'm easily amused, but I think 3-headed Giant is great. I always try to mention the name 5-headed Giant when that's what the card is called, and it usually gets a comment from new players.
Andy tried to get as many 3s as possible into Monty Python Fluxx so that "One, Two, Five!" had interesting things to do. You don't want to make everything a 3, though.

Is that why Keeper limit 3 was created?
Hmm... Begin the invasion sounds like it'd work okay.
But yeah I think this discussion has pretty much finished it's course.
