I need a little clarification regarding the cost of expanding the Erie into New York.
The tile and rules states the construction cost as $6 and the rules state that "the standard building rules apply".
So just to clarify: there's an NYC locomotive already in New York - that means it counts towards the cost of the Erie building there? In other words, the cost of the Erie building into New York in fact always $12 as the NYC locomotive will always be there and no other locomotive can built into New York?

The rules state that it costs the Erie $6 to build into New York. It costs $6.
The Erie is unique in that it is the only company that can build into one of the four starting cities on the east coast.

Thanks for the quick response!
So basically, the New York space is the *only* space on the board where the red "-6" construction cost is not multiplied due to the presence of another company's locomotive (with the exception of narrow gauge)?
I realize the Erie is special, and the rules specifically state the cost is $6, which is the root of my confusion. The other confusion arises as the Narrow Gauge rules specifically state that the starting narrow gauge locomotives do not count towards the cost of building into the city. It would have been nice if the same proviso was included with regard to the NYC locomotive in New York, to remove any confusion.
Anyway, seems to me if they intended having a $6 cost to enter New York, as an NYC locomotive is automatically in New York to start the game, they could have instead printed a red "-3" for the sake of consistency.
Love this game - can't wait to try with the expansions!
