Ramping up my reviewing.
Happily playing games for many, many years.

During the recent "no shipping costs" from the BGG Store Anniversary Promotion, I took the opportunity to pick up a copy of the BoardGameGeek Game, which I'd played once before at Randy's. I enjoyed the experience then, and I considered it a game well worth having in my collection. It is definitely one of the lighter Eurogames, but it plays quickly and I found it quite enjoyable.
This four-player game was played with Mark, Josh and Alex, none of whom had played the game before. I'd played it once before. :)
Playing "green" gave me the Treefrog line of games. Mark played blue (Ystari), Alex blue (Queen) and Josh yellow (Rio Grande). Soon enough we were away, and almost immediately after making sure everyone knew that you shouldn't get two copies of the same game... I got two copies of the same game. Yes, I really do love Caylus, but giving Mark a lot of points for it? That was stupid.
What was becoming quite apparent as we played the game was that no-one liked Treefrog games. (Sorry, Martin!) I was easily last place - by 10-15 :gg: - for most of the game. It was only towards the end of the game that the true value of Treefrog Games became apparent and I began to see returns for my game sales.
We were beginning to see "clever plays" from the players as they got more used to the rules - Josh monopolizing shelves of the stores. Blank tiles attracting people to empty stores. There's more here than initially meets the eye and, best of all, the game plays quickly and is a lot of fun.
Once or twice our "geeks" had to go home empty handed - or took their own game off the shelf to deny it to another player.
We finished the sixth round, and the scores were as follows: Alex 63, Mark 61, Josh & Merric 56. Now it was time for seeing the sets... and there I had the distinct advantage, with sets of 1,2,5 & 6. Mark and Alex had three sets each, and Josh only had two... and (also) no 6 tiles at all!
Final scores: Merric 138, Mark 126, Alex 112, Josh 103.
After the game, Alex said that she had really enjoyed the game. It was good to hear - she's a relatively casual gamer, and this game hit her sweet spot. I hope I'll get in a few more games of the BGG Game in the near future!

Nice report. I do enjoy this game too! It is just fun determining the start player using the geeky way of determining. Also.......my avatar is on the box too.....another reason to love this game!!!!
