With only 1 vote for the best/recommended poll I'm wondering if this expansion does anything to make the game better for 5-6. Theoretically it seems reasonable with another train line available but I'd like to know in practice before purchasing.
My review comments indirectly on player counts for the Erie. In short I see it as only worthwhile with 4 players. 3-player games with the Erie are too unstable as the Erie player can play the other two players off against each other too easily.
I haven't similarly commented on Narrow Gauge. In short I consider Narrow Gauge most interesting with 4 players, and sufficient to make 5-player games viable. More generally I view Wabash Cannonball as exclusively a 3- or 4-player game. The Narrow Gauge expansion changes that by making 5-player games actually worth playing. I would not play 5-player Wabash Cannonball without Narrow Gauge.
