I played this for the first time last weekend with 4 players. What a great game! Everyone had a blast.
Tonight I was planning to introduce it to my regular group, who usually number 4. One guy can't make it so there will only be 3 of us. Is it still worth playing, or should I wait until we have 4? I'd hate for people tonight to not enjoy this because it plays far worse with 3.

It has been awhile since I have played, but agree it is a great game with 4. I played once with three and remember it not being as fun - think one player puts down 2 guys to compensate for lack of players. Might want to hold out for 4. I know exactly what you mean about people having a bad experience and not wanting to play again - happened to me with Container.

If I remember right, in the 3 player everyone places 2 accomplices the first round.
Yeah, I definitely don't want them to get turned off this. The game deserves a fair shake!

Theres not as much chaos but is still a great game played with 3. The only thing is that nobody will get squeezed out of getting onto a boat. Also, the game seems to be closer at the endgame for me, which isnt necessarily a bad thing.
Long live the pirates! I always give a: "Gotcha matey" and a
"Fifteen men on the dead man's chest. YO HO HO and a bottle of rum!"
whenever I'm the pirate and the other players land on my spot.

Now that I've got the pirate song in my head there's no way I can pass this one up tonight!
