Introduction
Hello to everyone who might happen to read this. My name is Raiko and I have a little session report here I want to write to you about. About the title - on the 18th of February I had 100 days left to serve my country in the army, so I decided to play a game every day and then write a session about them. You can read them all in the Geeklist Geeklist Project: 100 days left to serve in the army!. For my 20th game in the series I chose Tongiaki. I had no idea about the game when I bought that game from Josh. I just know that I love these boat and sailing games. They always seem to be more beautiful than the rest of the games. Now a little bit more about the game.
The Game
We played total of four games of this game this week. The first game we played it with six player then again with three and then again with four. There were many boats in the box that were not complete. Some had missing sails and noses etc. The first game were played by Raiko as blue, Rivo as purple, Priit as orange, Martti as green, Kaarel as yellow and Raul as red. With that many players the game was really hard to control. I had no control about the game. By the time it was my turn again, everything on the board was changed completely. And it took really long time when some played had a chain reaction and just sailed and sailed, then arranged the boats. I didn't like the game with six players. It got really boring quite fast. So we played doing the best we could. Priit was clever, he somehow placed all his boats in a way, that it was had for us to get to them. So after 16 water tiles were placed (always had to read, how many we already had) and after scoring the final score for the first game was: Priit - 27 Raiko - 20 Martti - 20 Rivo - 19 Kaarel - 15 Raul - 12 So Priit won this game with quite big. I guess had some kind of tactics for the game, because that couldn't have been luck. I tried to think some tactics for the game, but it was all so irregular and so hard to control, so I just forgot about the it. Later I played that game again with Raul and Gunnar, who was first to my gaming group there. It is actually quite fun to watch how every day more and more people want to part in out gaming events. Most of them said in the beginning, that board games are for pussies, but not any more. Walking around our table and trying to see over the people. We have like 10 to 15 people always watching and cheering our play. So Gunnar were lucky and got to play as well. Gunner played as red, I was yellow, Raul red. After the first couple of rounds, Rivo joined in in the middle of the game as orange. Later, in the middle of the game lieutenant called Raul away from the game and were left by three. We gathered all his pieces from the board. After that the game changed drastically. Well had change to make Royal Islands. I had one four and one 5 point island. Gunnar had 2 and 3, Rivo had 4, and 4. So we had a lot of Royal Islands. The game took some time now, since we played mostly on islands we already had, but nothing last forever, so the game ended at some point. The final score for the second game was: Rivo - 34 Raiko - 31 Gunnar - 28
Well, Tongiaki wasn't as popular as expected. It took time and endless loops happened some times. So the game is what it is. I tend to play it again some time in my life I guess, but since I have so many games and I keep getting more and more games every day, it is pretty unlikely that I will get to play this game again. So, this was my 20th game already. So I have only 80 more games to play, which is quite sad. Time flies while plating these great games. Til next time.
