After reading the comments about 4 player, wondering about how three player feels... I personally don't mind if it makes the game a bit less challenging if we can play it in 90 minutes for real...

Thanks!

I've played 3 and 4 -- I prefer 4,but 3 is fun as well. I think you should be able to get a game in under 90 minutes.

I've played 3-player twice and found it too rich to be interesting. 4- and 5- player are both sufficiently better that it simply isn't worth playing with less.

I'd like to know what you mean by rich in this context. Is it simply that everyone ends up with more money?

As to the original question, after a few games with 4, a couple with 5 and a 3-player game where I taught both opponents I definitely prefer 4-player games. As to the 3 or 5 I'd prefer to play with just 3 compared to 5 because of the extra time introduced. It seems to me that with 5 there's going to be more time added than just the extra person taking turns. Far more warehouses seemed to get knocked off the tracks into the middle delaying the game if people went to the effort or replacing them.
3-players games in 90 minutes should be possible once everyone knows the game, I think the game I taught was close to that and I'm not quick with explanations.

Too much space, too little contention, too many easy almost-as-good choices: too rich.

Thanks to all; I've learned a new GBG term - "Rich" I like it,,,

And please, if there are others who have played 3 player, I'd love to hear from you!

Oh, and of course, when I say "GBG" I mean German Board Game.
