for what its worth, I've settled on "cube pushers" both as a snide name for eurogames I dislike and those who are way too into eurogames...which would include me.
After playing Age of Empires 3 and Bootleggers recently, I've come to dislike plastic minis. Maybe metal ones, but plastic...bleh!
Why? Cuz it's flexible?
Many games use rigid plastic.
You'll only see metal figs on a miniature game table.
I just much prefer the feel of wood or metal...or hell paper counters. The soft molded plastic just feels "bleh", its got a soft warm characterless tactility. I don't mind hard plastic nearly as much like cheap poker chips or the trains in Ticket to Ride....
I also wasn't fond of the AoE minis because they are not super easy to tell apart...not hard either but I'd just as much enjoyed wooden discs and cubes, and cylinders or something. That said, those wooden cones in DS also suck because they are a pain to pick up.
