Introduction

Hello to everyone who might happen to read this. My name is Raiko and I have a little session report here I want to write to you about. About the title - on the 18th of February I had 100 days left to serve my country in the army, so I decided to play a game every day and then write a session about them. You can read them all in the Geeklist Geeklist Project: 100 days left to serve in the army!. For my 57th game I played a little card game called Citadels and this time we played the game with the Dark City expansion. I thought I mention that I got the game from the BGG user Annkelia. Thanks to her for the game.

The Game

Now, since Henrik was little angry about the blocking in the game, he still game to play a little Dark City expansion and because he just liked the game, like he said to us. And now we had a new player also - Anton. He is one of the non-estonian speaking here, although he is learning quite well and our board gaming events are helping him, like he says. And the reason for that is that he is trying really hard to understand what we are saying so he could understand the game. Quite warm feeling actually to know that a simple game brings Estonians and Russians together behind one table for a friendl game. Who is not from Estonia, might not understand what that means here...
Well, for the first game we used all the purple buildings (because we liked it this way) and we used the artist and the witch (random choices). It was fun teaching Anton the game, because he strickly asked us not to speak any Russian, only Estonian, so it caused some misunderstanding, but we worked it all out nice.
Well, for the very very first game with us, Anton was quite good. From the very first cards played it was quite clear that he knows what he has to do. And to rush little bit ahead, he was very successful in the game. This time there was interrupting between players. Well, there were, but very little.
Henrik wasn't up to his usual game for some reason (maybe the last game where me and Priit crushed him bad) and Martti was again quite successful being invisible. Being invisible is very good strategy for board games, especially the ones where every player is playing their own game.
So the final score for the first game:
Raiko - 23 pts + 4 pts (museum) + 2 artist = 29 pts
Anton - 29 pts + 3 pts (every color) = 32 pts (7 money left)
Henrik - 24 pts (2 money left) and he had the crown last
Martti - 31 pts + 4 pts = 35 pts (1 money left)

It seems that Martti won once again and Anton was behind only with three points. Well, I can tell ahead that for the next game things are different for all of us.
For the second game we used all the expansion characters. It might be against the rules, but who cares. We thought it could be fun. And for the 9th we used again Artist character. The Queen seemed so boring.
This time the win actually came by using the character whose name I don't remember. The one that lets you exchange one building. The game was between two people - me and Anton. Martti and Henrik played for the third place.
Since me and Anton both had 28 points on our cities and 7 buildings it was quite exiting. What I did, I took the one that lets you exchange buildings. Anton then built his 8th building, bringing his total to 32 points plus 4 points from the 8 buildings and 3 points from the all colors, meaning that he could have 39 points. So what I did I exchanged my 3 house with his 6 house (destroying his all colors), so my score was 31 from the buildings and 3 from the all colors, with total 34 points. His score now was 39 minus three (from the house) and again minus three (from the all colors) with total of 33 points. Well, that was quite lucky, I guess...
So the final score for the second game:
Raiko - 31 pts + 3 pts (all colors) = 34 points.
Anton - 29 pts + 4 pts = 33 points.
Henrik - 22 pts + 3 pts = 25 points.
Martti - 21 pts + 4 pts (museum) + 1 pts (artist) + 3 pts (all colors) = 29 pts.

At the end Martti did quite well with his bonuses. If you watch on to the another players game, you tend to miss all the bonuses and we missed those, but we were lucky he hadn't no more points from his buildings. And I have to say that I was quite happy about my close victory. It took four games to finally win in Citadels. It was very fun game and I have to say that I like the game more with the expansion.
So, this was my 57th game in the series and I have only 43 more games to go. Til next time!
