Hey y'all,

Just need a little clarification on the functionality of Mystify, based on info I've read here in the forums...

1) A post made some time ago indicates that Mystified Day Temple tiles can count as one of the nine tiles required to build a temple. I assume then that there are no limitations on how this can happen as long as a Mystified tile eventually borders eight other Day tiles?

2) Some confusion about what types of tile can be Mystified. The rulebook states that the only tiles eligible for this are Day tiles, but the card "Wishing Pond" seems to Mystify Day's location tile without requiring that it be a Day tile. Does this mean there can be a Night tile with a Day Temple counter on it? If so, can a Day Temple be constructed later using that tile?

1. I believe you are correct.

2. I think we played that out as a change to a Day tile before we Mystified it. We may have been wrong ~ I know we missed the fact that Night could change or Crystalize a Mystified tile... I just found that one when I was checking the rules to see if I could get an answer for you! shake

1- correct. They still count as Day tiles and there is no reason that anything that applies to day tiles won't apply to them, except that they can't be changed or turned over. They still count as Day tiles for all spells, for example the various "if Night is on a Day tile..." ones. They can even be Crystallized. (useful if Day is on them)

2- No, no, no. As the rulebook specifies, sometimes part or all of the effects of a spell cannot take place, and this is an example. Only day tiles can be mystified, so if Day is on a Night tile nothing happens but she can spend the hours and get rid of the card.
The fact that only day tiles can be mystified is a limitation on when the Mystify effect can be applied; it never says that it also has the power to change or turn over tiles.

thanks for the responses, guys. Rad: my scenario with mystifying a Night tile didn't make sense to me either, but with 'Wishing Pond' not explicitly stating it needed to be done on a Day tile I just wanted to clarify.

I suspect our second game will go much better than the first - we were so focused on the strategy that we completely forgot spellcasting must be completed before travelling for the first half of the game and played them together.
