By 'Lego', you mean 'Playmobile'* 'Playmobil', right?

Funtastic! This makes me want to play even more, and I want to play with those playmobile-figure wolf cards.
This game deserves more attention on the fiver.

Actually this makes me want to play with my old Playmobils; still far far away from ever playin werewolf again.

The Legion reviews are simply fantastic.
Although, I though lynching involved hanging people. I'd have loved to see legionnaires being strung-up!
Upon reflection, maybe the spear in the back was a more appropriate touch.
More reviews please... more.

Thanks everyone. This was a particularly fun review to put together - a bit of a challenge as there were no boards or bits for the Legion to work with, but I hope I captured a sense of just how much fun 5-6 player Werewolf can be. Of course, as with so many games, you need to have the right group to really enjoy it, but fortunately I have a fantastic group.

I asked the Legion if they could just close their eyes, but that proved to be impossible.

Neither can I. That probably added an extra 2-3 hours to my usual reviewing time, but it was worth it. I needed a set of cards for myself anyways and the opportunity was just too good to pass up.

That was certainly an option under consideration, but Centurion Maximus couldn't find any rope of the right size, and none of the Legion knew how to tie a proper noose anyways, so they decided to go with a more direct approach.

Yessir, but you have to give me some time to actually play games in between!

Wow, what a great review. I laughed when they put their heads on the table. And it sounds like a great variant for fewer players.
I've played this game many times and at least two different editions, including Miller's Hollow and the ambitiously titled Ultimate Werewolf Ultimate Edition, but I've never played this variant, which seems great because it gives each of the five or six players something special to do. Even the villager is special because he/she is the only one.
Can you clarify how your group does voting and what roles get added if you have more players?
Thanks again for the review.

In my group, voting is done by pointing, typically in conjunction with a raised hand to make sure nobody gets "accidentally" lynched during the heated discussion phase. It's important to note that whoever is lynched doesn't reveal his/her role until the end of the game.
I haven't actually played this version with more than five + moderator. I know with six you add an extra villager, which can sometimes result in tied votes, in which case nobody is lynched that day. Raid1280 can probably chime in with more details on this front, being a much more experienced werewolf than myself.
I highly recommend that people give the 5-6 player variant a try, even if you're not fond of larger-scale Werewolf. Everyone is involved right from the start and the fact that there are only two "day" phases to play means every accusation and defense is absolutely vital. My group has introduced this variant to several new players and all of them have picked up on the mind-games after only a few rounds.

I care not for your game-playing needs, my dear. Now get to it before I send forth my army of monkeys!

Hi Ken! The 5er game is essentially the 'sprint' version of Werewolf. Usually the games have around 11+ players and the game can last around 30 minutes or so. The 5er game is its own beast....er.....werewolf...
First off the 5er is incredibly balanced. Adding just one more role throws the balance off and it would be very challenging for the team that didn't get the additional role. If you throw in an extra evil character the good side may find it almost impossible to win, and if you throw in an extra good character the evils will definitely have their work cut out for them.
The games also last anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes....maybe 15 if you have a particularly good matchup, so the odd man out can either narrate or wait for the next turn. We usually play where the player who drew the werewolf narrates the next round.
In terms of voting, you can carry this out in one of several ways.
1) Voting cards - I keep a stack of index cards and sharpie with my Werewolf kit for just this reason. I'll write a players name on the index card and give it to them, so that when people vote you can see where their vote is placed, and who threw the vote (all important pieces of information).
2) The Point method - Players may point at whoever they are voting for in hopes they are lynched. The downside of this (as mentioned by Mya above) is that players may be caught up in the heat of the moment and point while stating an accusation. This may be the majority vote on someone that sends them off to the gallows....but the player may not have meant to point as a vote, and merely pointed in order to make a statement. Jeremiah, and Mya have corrected this by having a player point, and then raise their hand to identify that their point is, in fact, a vote.
Regardless of which method we use, we also use 'insta-lynch' which means that when a player has majority vote (3 out of 5 on the first day, 2 of 3 on the second) they are immediately removed from the game.
One other very important aspect of the 5er game is that there is NO role reveal. A characters identity stays secret until the very end of the game. When a player is lynched or killed they must sit quietly, with their role card hidden, until the game is over (which isn't long at all in a 5er).
5ers are a blast when you get a great group together....and they move quickly. Keep in mind though....there is zero room for error in this version. If you get dealt the Werewolf role....you wake up during the 1st day and someone points to you screaming to the rest of the group "I'm the Seer, and he's a werewolf! I checked him and got a positive hit!" You better slap on that stone cold face of absolute truth, turn to the group and defend yourself in any way possible.
Also, if anyone is interested, we run all types of games in the Werewolf forum. I'm running one right now actually, and I do run 5ers quite often.
If you're interested in trying it out don't hesitate to geekmail me. I'll set something up for anyone who wants to enter the ring.
The forum is here.
In order to sign up and play a game on the forum you'll also have to sign up this site. It uses the exact same user name as your BGG account and is very user friendly. This site was setup to make play easier for the forums. It automatically tracks the votes, and gives the moderators a lot of tools to run the game.
Again, don't hesitate to geekmail with any questions! Enjoy the 5er!
