Here are the party games which are ranked in at least one other subdomain (in addition to Party). Could it be that these are not "true" party games?
The numbers indicate the percentile rank (99 is best, 0 is worst) within each subdomain [(A)bstract, (C)ollectible, (F)amily, (K)id, (P)arty, (S)trategy, (T)hematic, (W)ar].

Not very surprising, since the domain categories are very overlapping and they are independent axes, rather than a partitioning of the space of games.
It would be like asking people to put games into exactly one of these categories:
"Titles starting with a vowel" "Games with large boxes" "Games that work with more than 2 players" "Games that have dice" "Games that have a board" "Games where you earn victory points" "Games with a theme" "Economic games" "Train games" etc.

The more I think about it, the more I think there should be very atomic independent (and more objective) attributes, and then people can search for combinations of the elementary attributes that are of interest to them.
E.g. Has randomness Has hidden information Works for 2 players Works for more than 2 players Has simultaneous decisions Real-time Dexterity War theme Railroad theme Has cards Has dice Etc etc.
And every game has a vector of values for these attributes, rather than being artificially and arbitrarily pushed into one of them.

Yep that was 12 Power Grid maps back to back over two days. Worth doing, but possibly not in such a concentrated burst.
Ooh yes, now a little to the left - my nose is itchy. No, no the other left! Now what colour is 12 supporter badge going to be I wonder?

That's bound to be, because some of them are quit good games
Seriously, some games are cut and dried but there are plenty of games that can be classified in more than one category. As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We may be both thinking of the same game and you classify it as a Party Game and I classify it as a Family Game (either because I play it with my family or I hate Party games and I like this game therefore it could not possibly be a party game or some other reason entirely!)

Isn't this what you expected from categorizing games?
