After reading... these sound very similar. I have neither, so I ask, what is the difference?

Wow...

That's pretty spot on, man.

It looks exactly the same, lol!

I wonder...

That's what I was thinking. After Flicochet came out, I read the rules and thought to myself, "My friends and I have been playing that for years."

We played with old Crokinole discs or wooden checkers. It is definitely alot of fun.

Bravo to whoever thought to package it. Wish it was me...

Hi, I'm not positive about all the rules to Tocce. It seems to be unavailable now, and I had never heard of it until after I released Flicochet (I'm sure being in Australia made that more likely!). Although of course the central scoring method is used in countless games with all sorts of discs, balls and boules, so its no surprise there was a Crokinole-disc version!

Anyway here are the differences that I can gather:

- The jack disc in Flicochet is quite a bit larger than a regular disc. This gives a bit more subtlety and control in knocking it around the table, which is a key part of the game.

- There are penalty rules for knocking the jack off the table, and a proximity rule for when the jack gets very close to the table edge. Not sure how Tocce handled these two things, but they are pretty important.

- Flicochet comes with rules for multiple variant games, including Double-Jack Flcochet (and an extra jack to play it). This is my favourite version of the game and adds another layer of strategy.

- Flicochet has team rules for up to 6. Not sure how Tocce handled this.

Phil!

Very mature and well considered response...

You didn't get defensive and I appreciate that. Because I certainly wasn't attacking, and I don't feel the OP was either...
So, bravo for a professional reply!

Scarce around here, at times...

Anyways, congrats for repackagaing the central theme/mechanic. Who cares?! I am happy to have your game and appreciate your activity in these forums!

I totally agree! I love talking to the game designers about their game, but they aren't always as friendly your response. I wouldn't worry about the similarities too much. It didn't affect my decision to order the game! I can't wait to play with your variant rules!!
