In a recent game 4 player game, the joker came up in the first cake. The cake was split into 4, but the joker piece was a slice on its own (a single pieced slice). A player hence was left with only a joker slice in his possession after the first round. What happens? Does he nominate what type of cake it represents at that point? Or, does he have to wait until he has another slice from the next cake before he chooses what it represents? If so, is it fairer to allow the player to 'eat' the slice after receiving his second slice from the next cake? If he does not nominate a slice, can another player immediately replace it, thereby nominating the slice for him?
Thoughts?

I would play that you are allowed to keep it "undeclared" until the next round when you take other slices. Then you must allocate it to one of the new slices taken or eat it.
