Gamers North of Manchester England (GNOME) are holding another of our famous all-dayers on Sunday 26th September 2010 at St Mary's Church Hall, Horwich. Access to the car park is from Richmond st (BL6 5QT for you Satnavvies). Doors open at 10:30AM and we need to be out by 11PM.
As previously, we have the hall to ourselves and the bar is open from 12 Noon to 11PM. There are shops and takeaways within easy walk but we will be providing some light grub at around 6PM to keep you going.
Everyone is welcome of course, including kids (so long as they are gamers and not run-around-and-knock-things-over-ers). Bring your own games or come and play ours.
Entry is £3 (£1 for under 16s) which includes free hotpot/soup at 6:00PM. I doubt you could find a better deal this side of the bargain bucket at Cheapy McCheap's scandalously cheap discount store.
Please post below if you are interested in coming. Let us know if there is anything special you will be bringing or would like to play.
If you have never been, you can get a feel for what the day will be like by checking out the lists from last time, March '09 and Sep '08..
Hope to see you there.

As usual, put me down in the "possibles" list for now please. Even though it's written on the calendar - and therefore 'set in stone' (according to Mrs Ranger's own rules!!) there's still plenty of time for her to over-ride the decision....

Pencil me in, plus one offspring.
We are in Harrogate, so if the York car is not yet full ...
----
Edit: Will bring the Crokinole board, now with 4 colours so you can play with 4 competitively rather than just teams. WIll also bring Leaping Lemmings and Dominant Species if it has appeared by then. I would love to say The Great Fire of London 1666 as well, but that has gone awfully quiet.
And now the shameless plugs: I will probably have a copy or three of games that I have been working on. Only Wend-loop is in the database thus far, but there are a couple of others in the queue.

Woah, has the fame of our Lancashire hospitality extended even to the Ivory Towers of the Railway Institute, York? We are deeply humbled...

Hope you can make it. Richard knows the way.

Item for debate: Hotpot/soup or pasties? Preferences anyone? Both will have a veggie option.

Not pasties please, not for me anyway. I was anticipating a hotpot, being the local delicacy. I hope there are proper dumplings too.

Don't bring your hoity toity Yorkshire ways with you. We don't do dumplings round here and pasties are the local speciality. Bolton is home to Ye Olde Pasty Shop
That being said, any hotpot provided will be the finest we can muster within a door price of £3. It will certainly be good and wholesome but it will not contain lobster or truffles and no celebrity chef will have had a hand its preparation. However, there will probably be red cabbage and/or beetroot to go with.
Last time, Will was also able to rustle up cakes for pud - fingers crossed for this time.

Put me and Christian (Codex1997) down as possibles.
We're back from France and will most likely be there. The only reason we can't commit for definite is that my wife's birthday is a few days before and if she can't plan a night out for any other night than the night before then we'll be scuppered.
I'll confirm as soon as I know.

As a proud Lancastrian in exile over the border I can answer this. A hotpot is a traditional Lancashire savoury dish of onions, meat (usually lamb or beef) and sliced potatoes. They are layered in the deep pot which is then slowly cooked in the oven (hence the name). It never, never, never has a pastry lid.
Served with picked red cabbage. That's the stuff

Thank you! I want one day to go to Britain and game with you guys. I've really enjoyed gaming with Mike Siggins and Alan How and I would like to see how gaming is in Europe. I know I can speak a mucked up version of the language too, which will help considerably.

You'll find that Hotpot is excellent gaming grub for gaming in someone's home, as the host can put the meal on prior to the guest's arrival and remove it from the oven after the game is finished and the table cleared for food. As there are almost no dishes then, it's easily cleared away for further gaming.
I'm also reliably informed that the version my mum taught me to cook is uncommonly good!
