Stash needs to be dumped out of 2 player games.

If someone gets 2 Stash cards before the other gets 1 it is about all over and quickly. If that same person who gets the jump on Stash can trash a couple of cards it is all over very quickly since they can recycle their deck so fast.

Stash is essentially unaffected by scaling, so to say that it is broken in a two-player game is to say that it is broken in games of any size.

And how is that the case anyhow? It's a Silver that allows you to position it in your deck. You can ensure that 2 Stash will come up together so you can afford, say, a third Stash or something, and you'll be guaranteed to draw it and use it before you need to reshuffle so that you don't lose a use of it from it being in your hand when you reshuffle, but beyond that, it's a Silver. what exactly makes a pair of Stashes so insurmountably game-breakingly awesome?

You really must be doing something wrong here.

I think it has been suggested before that getting the first gold is a winning strategy. Perhaps gold should be dumped out too?

No, first Province is usually the game winner - we should get rid of Provinces.

We just got rid of all the cards and now just sit around the table imagining the game in our heads.

this is fun, I'm building an imaginary duke/duchy deck as we speak, just try and stop me with your stashes!

The Stash-strat is very handy, but it is limited to at most 1 Province per shuffle, which with trashing is still at least every 2 Turns, and often more like every 3-4 turns.

To review:
4-3 Split=2 Turns
Getting Stashes=4 Turns minimum
Getting 4 Provinces=8 Turns minimum

So something like 13-14 turns minimum to get 4 Provinces, usually more.

I figured Stash was a weak card in games with strong trashing. I mean, if you can trash your deck down to the good stuff it's not usually that hard to draw the good cards together absent special deck-stacking powers.

It can still combo with Chancellor, for example. Being on top of your deck can be a lot more than just "drawing the good cards together".

Stash depends a lot upon context. If certain attack cards are being used by your opponent, having Stash can be a disadvantage. i.e. Your opponent has an edge of knowing whether or not to play a particular attack card during a particular turn. In fact, certain attack cards (or other action cards) that you might not normally buy are worth a second consideration if an opponent has a Stash heavy deck.

In terms of keeping a balanced game, Stash works better in some 10-card Kingdom set ups than in others. i.e. If there are other powerful 5-cost cards in the game to tempt you, you have an opportunity cost every time you buy a Stash. (On the other hand, if there are not other tempting cards, it can be a little boring as a run is made on the Stash cards.)
