Anyone have a sense of a version history for Cranium? I'm about done with the cards in my two sets (a pre-Hasbro basic set and Cranium WOW), and I'm hoping to buy another set or two, just for cards. But it is seemingly impossible to know what to expect...

Near as I can tell...

Cranium published the basic game before selling to Hasbro. I think, but don't know for certain, that the cards were always the same in these editions.

Cranium published two Booster sets of cards. Booster set 2 sells for ridiculous prices online, but its cards are mirrored in Cranium Primo (which sells for much less).

Cranium WOW has all new cards that include new question types robbed from Cranium Turbo. Did it steal cards from Turbo or does Turbo have entirely different cards?

Hasbro has now published two or three versions of the base game. There's a base game, a base game with a small set of "family" cards as an extra, and a new 2010 (thus far only available on their site) base game. The "new" base game advertises new cards. Do either of the other base games have new cards?

I think that covers all editions. I've put an email into Hasbro and I'll report what I find, but it'd be swell if y'all can offer any help as well. My friends and I have been playing "couples" games alot lately, and no one is keen to stop!

I would like to know what you find out about the new Cranium. The artwork looks different so I'm hoping these are new cards. Get back to us! Thanks.

I'm awaiting a clarification on the new set, but here's what they said so far:

"The cards that are included in our Cranium games are the same cards that were included in the games when they were made by Cranium. Regrettably, we do not have additional cards or booster packs available for our Cranium line of games."

Which confirms, at least, that everything ever marketed just as "Cranium" has been the same. I *think* it looks like this new set bucks that trend, but I'll wait to hear it from the horse's mouth.

I'll report what I'm able to find out.

In other news, replacement clay is still available, for just $2, which includes shipping and handling, and no sales tax in most states. I found that to be far more reasonable than I'd expected from Hasbro.

Hasbro's response: "The new Cranium game with all new cards, does include new cards that have not been used before."

I wish that was just a little less vague, but I'll trust it.

For me, that just leaves ambiguity about the cards in Cranium WOW, Cranium Primo, and Cranium Turbo all being different from one another. Assuming they are:

Cranium
Cranium Booster Box 1
Cranium Booster Box 2 / Cranium Primo
Cranium Turbo
Cranium Wow
Cranium 2010

Would be all of the different sets of cards suitable for adults.

Anyone able to add anything?

I would love more info about the 600 new cards from the 2010 edition. Are they *really* new? Are they easier/harder than the old Cranium cards?

I recently thrifted 2 version, both made before Cranium was bought by Hasbro.

This version (copyright 2002) has more cards-

While this version in a smaller box (copyright 2004) has less cards-
