Although there are already two very well done variants for supply for Tactics II (go see them in the files bar if you haven't already!), I decided to go ahead and write up the supply system I used in a recent game with a friend of mine. This variant once again stresses (as did my Chit Pull variant) Corp and Army integrity as the range a unit can trace its supply is rather short.

Rule Changes

1. Supply Phase: After Player B has completed his combats, both players enter the Supply Phase and check their units to see if they can make Trace Supply.

2. Trace Supply: During the supply phase a unit must check to see if it is in trace supply; this is accomplished by being within five Movement Points of its respective HQ (and only its respective HQ; see P. 11 of the rules, Organization of Forces). This route can be traced over rivers, forests, cities, and roads at all the normal terrain movement penalties. Only Mountain Divisions can trace their supply through mountain squares. Supply cannot be traced through an enemy units Zone of Control.

Once a unit has proven that it can trace its supply to its HQ the HQ itself must prove it can trace supply to its HQ (e.g. III Corp HQ must trace supply to 2nd Army HQ). The same distance and terrain rules apply.

Once the Corp HQ's have traced their supply, the Army HQ's must trace their supply to the Army Group HQ following all the distance and terrain rules mentioned above.

If at any time a unit cannot trace its supply for any reason that unit and every unit under its command are considered Out of Supply (e.g. If a Corp HQ cannot trace its supply then the Divisions tracing to that HQ are also considered OOS. If a division is OOS however, only that division is OOS since no other unit is tracing through that division).

2.1 Specialist Divisions: The 1st and 2nd Mountain/Amphibious/Airborne Divisions can trace supply to their respective Army HQ or to any Corp HQ under their Army's command (e.g. the 2nd Amphibious Division can trace supply to the 2nd Army HQ or to either the III or IV Corp HQ.) To do this the owning player must announce at the beginning of his turn to which HQ he plans to trace supply through.

A. Mountain Divisions: If a Mountain Division ends its movement in a mountain square, it may instead choose to trace its supply from any friendly division. The same rules of distance and terrain apply.

B. Amphibious Divisions: At the end of a turn where an Amphibious Division has made an amphibious landing it may choose to trace its supply to the beach square it landed on. The Division may continue this form of trace supply until:

A) The Division declares that it is tracing supply back to its original Army HQ.
B) The Division declares that it is tracing supply back to a Corp HQ under the command of its original Army HQ.
C) The beach square the division landed on is taken by an opposing division.

C. Airborne Divisions: At the end of a turn where an Airborne Division has made an Airborne landing on any city the Airborne Division may choose to trace its supply to the city. The division may continue this form of trace supply until:

A) The Division declares that it is tracing supply back to its original Army HQ.
B) The Division declares that it is tracing supply back to a Corp HQ under the command of its original Army HQ.
C) The city the division landed on is taken by an opposing division.

3. Out Of Supply (OOS): When a unit has been declared OOS the owning player rolls a die. On a 1 or 2 the unit in question is left on the board. On a 3 or higher the unit is moved to the dead pile.

4. V Corp: This Corp begins the game in the Replacement bivouac as usual. However, add to its placement the V Corp HQ (Any counter will work, although I'd suggest you use one of the blank counters provided with the game) to any of the squares in the bivouac. It is considered a 0-5 HQ and ignores the stacking rules until the end of the first turn. This unit can trace its supply through either the Army Group HQ or to either the 1st or 2nd Army. To do this the owning player must announce at the beginning of his turn to which HQ he plans to trace supply through.
