I would appreciate expert advice to resolve the following situation -
A British LT unit occupies one of the Spanish stockades from where it disrupts the LOC to the siege redoubts.
It receives a 'D' result during the Spanish combat phase and according to 3.14.1.6 of the exclusive rules, tests morale. It fails and becomes 'disrupted.'
So far so good. It cannot destroy the stockade because it is not 'parade order', but can continue to cut supply lines by virtue of its very presence according to the Siege & Bombardment rules 3.6. (second bullet).
What happens next? The exclusive rules do not cover rallying, however the series rules 15.1. states that a unit can rally if not adjacent to enemy units. In addition, series rule 13.3. (7th bullet) says that a disrupted unit must retreat or be captured if it ends its own CC phase adjacent to enemy units.
This is clear enough but my question is in essence: which rules take precedence? The inference in the exclusive rules is that fortifications nullify the normal effects of disruption (i.e. the need to retreat three hexes). Therefore -
1. Can the disrupted LT unit in the stockade rally? 2. Must the unit retreat or be captured at the end of its own CC phase?
Thanks for any and all viewpoints
