I got to play my first two player game of this tonight and wanted to leave a quick blurb with my impression of the game. I plan on writing a proper review after I've gotten a few plays under my belt.
This game is perfect for either the beginning or end of the night whilst waiting for another player to arrive or winding down from a heavier offering.
Play is simple and consists of 3 phases per turn.
Phase 1: Take a card from the bottom row. Phase 2: Take a card from the top row. Phase 3: Feed or starve. Pass the start player left.
Rinse and repeat until one of the two decks of 29 cards is exhausted.
The criteria for picking cards depends on the symbols located on the cards that you already have in your tableau. Each player starts with 2 wheat and 2 amphora.
The goal is to collect as many victory points as possible by getting different colored cards together in sets.
The luck in the game is based on turn and card order. I tend to lean toward heavier, little to no luck, games but this one has enough heft to it that it's still enjoyable to play.
I found the game to be fun and quick while still being a challenge and needing a bit of thought each turn. Paying attention to what other players do is important. I look forward to playing this game with varying numbers of players to see the difference in tactics.
Initial impressions are good.

What game do you think this plays like?
Thanks

I can't say this game really plays like anything else that I've played so far. It's only remotely related to bohnanza in the sense that the card order is fixed once they're down and only under special conditions can you remove cards from that order (ie: bohnanza by trading and armorica by starving). It's a very unique game and doesn't play like any other card game that I have. You can pretty much keep track of what people are going for so blocking is possible. To win you really must pay attention to what others have and what's available at the same time. It's a fun, unique, medium weight, filler game

Thanks for the reply. Chances of finding it at my FLGS is pretty slim, but if I happen upon it, I will probably pick it up. Looks interesting.

The game feels a lot like the designer tinkered with the Through the Ages draft, and then focused the whole game on the result (and in fact turned it into two drafts). It's quite nice, I think.

Possibly true, though I found my copy in my FLGS.

Your FLGS should be able to order it for you if you ask. Otherwise, lots of online retailers have it. You can find them at www.vaingloriousgames.net
I think Jason is right about Through the Ages being most similar to Armorica (to the extent that a 20-30 minute game can have anything in common with a 200-300 minute game ). It has a little similarity to Endeavor too. What am I saying? Its my game, that means it's completely original!
