Hello All,
I am looking to get this game when it comes out on the 17th, but everywhere I look (including my local FLGS) is saying the 31st. Anyone know what is going on? I was hoping to have this game for when my family comes down on the 27th.
Thanks, Korvanus

Apparently there was a delay, and the expected date slipped two weeks. It just changed today.

I was just talking to my wife about playing it for international D&D day (the 21st). Guess not...

Can you cite a source for that? I just checked the product catalog and it still shows an Aug 17th release date.

Hmm, I just thought coolstuffinc pushed it back because they had already sold out of the initial batch of games they'd be receiving on the 17th and the August 31st date was for the second batch of games.
Amazon still says August 17th, not sure if that means anything or not.

Ah man... I was excited for a next week release. When Coolstuffinc re-opened preorders, it still said August 17th, so I don't think it is a "Second Wave" or anything. I think Sphere is right, there was a delay.
And Amazon.com is not a good basis for anything. They say that DungeonQuest has released, but shipping within 3-4 weeks. That is how they get around incorrect dates.

When I ordered yesterday, it said August 17th, but today it says August 31st. Maybe they are just separate shipments...

I was going to order it through CLS, and have a limited time window to receive it before I go back to the UK. He called the publisher direct and confirmed it's been pushed back...

Aw crap... I took a week off at the end of august and hoped it would reach me at the end of the week in europe *sigh*

Wow I thought this only happened in the videogame world. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed for getting my preorder of Dust Tactics fulfilled soon instead.

Mate, if i've learned anything in my short few months heavily into board-gaming, it is that it downright shames the video-game industry when it comes to "delays".
Release dates in the board-game world seem like the vaguest hint as to what season a game is targeting for release.
Apparently the phenomenon has something to do with slow-boats-from-China, aka, the hobby being sooooo niche that publishers cannot afford proper supply lines, shipping, etc...

It happens in all kinds of industries. The money folks (accounting, marketing, etc.) always push for aggressive release dates, while the poor shlubs who have to create the product (engineers, programmers, assemblers and whoever) argue that in the real world, delays happen, and best case projections are seldom realistic. The money guys hold all the cards and win the debate. Afterwards, there's a meeting where everybody agrees that they'll learn by the experience. Rinse and repeat.

My guess at this point is that any delay is a result of production numbers not meeting distribution goals. We wouldn't have finished game boxes being demoed at cons and stores if the game were still in development.

We wouldn't have finished game boxes being demoed at cons and stores if the game were still in development. In the case you're pointing out, it's not so much production numbers as distribution costs. When a production run is completed, most of the product gets but on a container ship. But the company can decide to pretty much burn their profit margin on some product by having it express shipped for a publicity event, like a convention or pre-release. That way they can generate some exposure and hype while the bulk of the product is still somewhere in the Pacific.

Well that blows.
I have a batch of games coming from coolstuff (so I could get the free shipping- Dungeonquest, Mists of Zanaga) that will sit on hold till this game comes out.
It better not be Sept now or else.....

Yes I am in the same boat, with Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, along with a few other items in an order with Castle Ravenloft from CoolStuffInc. I was considering taking Castle Ravenloft out and ordering something else so I could get the order sooner after hearing the game was pushed back to the 31st. So my plan was to order Castle Ravenloft from Borders instead so I still get free shipping on every thing, but then I saw their release date set at the end of September... Which doesn't mean it is correct, but I am curious as to why they would change it otherwise.

buy.com also reflects the same. Barnes and noble just says September with no specific date. Amazon finally pushed their date to 31st of august. However the dnd website still reflects the 17th of august.
I sure hope its still august as september would really suck.

OK,today is 8/16, and WOTC's website still has 8/17 as the release date. Also, my Amazon pre-order is still listed as shipping tomorrow. So I have not lost hope! Well, we will know for sure tomorrow!
