So how about some online Prolix? Here's how it'll work.
I'll post a board for the day, and you come up with a word and a score for that board. The highest score wins. In case of a tie, the earlier post breaks the tie.
To make things spicy, I've cobbled together a rough AI named Clyde, who will tell you what he thinks the best words are on the board... after everyone has submitted their words.
If there's any doubt on whether or not something is a word, we will consult Merriam-Webster for the answer.

Clyde came up with four words worth 21 points for this board.
For those of you unfamiliar with the game, it's pretty simple. You come up with a word, and score the letters that are in the word. You don't need all letters in your word to be on the board; you're just scoring what matches. The value of each letter is based on what column it's in.
So the word "suddenly" would be worth 12 points on the above board. A good word is usually worth at least 15 points.
I'll put the deadline for this board at 9:00 pm Eastern tonight.

EDIT: Due to the new BGG rules, I can't award a prize for the best word. It'll have to be for bragging rights!

you know, it just dawned on me that the game might play interestingly if you take away one point for every extraneous letter. I mean, someone will use all 8 letters above and it's really a race to find that word.
But if you penalize for dragging out aphrodesiastically (or some other such nonsense), you'll still be rewarding those who think of good words, but you'll reward those who do so succinctly even moreso.

DeFRoSTeD for 21 (minus only 3 in the RandyScoring (tm) method) :)

The real version of the game has the interrupt rule to prevent what you're mentioning, Randy. But I thought this would be a neat little puzzle.
FWIW, the words Clyde came up today with don't use all the letters on the board. In fact, one neat tactic is to think of words that start with a letter that's not on the board (as is the case with one of Clyde's words today).

Whoops, a rules clarification: Each letter instance can only be used ONCE. So since there's only on S on the board, you only get to count S once.
You can count D twice on this board, because there are two Ds.
So STANDARDS is 18 points, not 22. Sorry for the confusion.

EDIT: The 21-point words Clyde found were:

From here on in, if anyone hits or exceeds the value of Clyde's word(s), I'll call it done and move onto the next board.
Now, per regular Prolix rules, we'll ditch the two letters in the rightmost column, move all letters one column to the right, and add two letters in the leftmost column. Like this:

As far as non-words go, SHREDITED is good! But my favorite non-word that ever got attempted in a game is DENINJAFY.

You can't add or remove certain suffixes from words already played. Specifically, you can't add or remove pluralizations, change the tense of a word, change the word's gerund, or change it to an adverb or back.
But plugging pre- and -ed or -ly onto the words is perfectly kosher.
It's interesting seeing how you're looking at it, Randy. You want to come up with shorter, more efficient words, even at a lower point value.

Uh oh. Sounds like you're banking on being added to the Unnecessarily Fiddly Rules geeklist. :)
Seems like it would be easier to say you can't reuse any word which shares a root word with a previously used word.
Otherwise, you get into the classic Scrabble legal case (really). Someone argued that anti can be put in front of any word. Anti-predefrosted anyone?
