I played the Bonus Scenario with the previous amendments and had another good game...

It did not look so rosy at first as three Republican armies were fielded in Spain - Proconsul Metellus with 4 Legions in Further Spain, Consul of the Day and 6 legions (3 from Narbo and 3 from the Emergency Manpower Draft) in Nearer Spain and Pompey and 6 legions in Eastern Celtiberia. Perperna managed to gather 9 legions in Sardinia and arrived in Further Spain while Sertorius and Hirtuleius were in the north. Perperna and Metellus fought each other to a bloody standstill, though the Sertorians did take Corduba and Italica attrition reduced them to two legions at the end of the turn and Sertorius rushed south to take command, leaving his troops behind under Hirtuleius.

The Sertorians took a chance and asked Mithridates for aid a turn early, but rolled a 6 and saw the Pontic army disappear completely. With no Eastern threat the Republicans demobbed the Asia Minor legions to increase stability (they still had 14 in Spain and 2 in Cisalpine Gaul). Sertorius forsaked Further Spain and retired to Lusitania to rebuild his army, while Hirtuleius rebuffed the Consul. Pompey was fired and the Proconsul combined Pompey's legions with the remains of the Further Spain command and retook Italica and Corduba.

Spartacus arrived on time and Crassus came out to meet him, but was defeated. The Slaves took control of Bruttium and Lucania-Apulia and Crisis lurched towards anarchy. Sertorius invaded Further Spain and the Republican forces in Spain were immobilised by drawing 5 "2" cards in one turn and they could not stop Sertorius and Hirtelius taking control of Nearer and Further Spain.

With Crisis below -25 and the Sertorians holding 5 provinces in Spain and 2 in Italy Lucullus gathered up the remains of the Republican legions and shipped them to Rome to join Crassus and defeat Spartacus, but the gladiator managed to hold them off in a bloody battle and Hirtelius took Transalpine Gaul with his light troops to give the Sertorians victory by holding 8 provinces and push the Republic into Anarchy with the last card of the game.

Thanks, Phil. It's a tough scenario, but one I really enjoy playing.
